Chapter 163 - Last Chance: Part 2 - Prelude to the Reselection

"Tsk, while true, Mister Vice President isn't that a biased and skewed opinion?" Ms. Serene questioned, considering that while their students did have the potential to reach the top, what is the point of potential if they cannot turn it into immediate power?

Considering a war does not begin when the soldier feels that they are qualified, but when they least expect it during which they must learn to grow and adapt to this new environment. While also using all resources at hand to foster their strength.

"While it may be skewed, I still believe our students could make waves even if they may be on the weaker side right now. So instead of considering who the winner of Project X will be, why not try and increase the chances of our students standing out and stealing the show?" Calvin said as he gazed at all the teachers of Forbidden Blood, before walking into the Sunset and allowing the wind to take him to his next destination.

Unaware of the fire he lit within the hearts and minds of his colleagues, who all gazed at each other before nodding in agreement and returning to campus. Bringing an end to this rare moment of relaxation, as everyone used the remaining time to prepare their students for Friday's Reelection.

A few days later...

Chime. Chime. Chime.

"Sigh, it seems it's finally time to kick some ass and solidify my position as one of the top candidates for my class," I muttered as I opened my eyes and absorbed the last traces of purple qi in the air.

"Hmph, hopefully, someone manages to kick you off your high horse and steal your position," Maze muttered with frustration as she caressed her pet cat Neptune while sitting beside her cousin.

As she still could not believe that the school would pick Rin over her, even though he did show a level of capability beyond his age. Along with a profound understanding of battle tactics, knowledge of elemental energy, and the potential to become an all-round powerhouse.

"Sigh, why must you always speak curses and not blessings over my life, Maze," I asked with curiosity as I glanced at her before getting up and dusting off my clothes.

"Because for one, I don't think you're all that, my dear cousin, and why not? For what's life without a bit of chaos, drama, and spice? Plus, it's not like you'll be affected by my words like some people I know." Maze replied before gazing at Ethan, who could be seen making his way toward the clock tower at a leisurely pace.

Following the abrupt wake-up call by Maze, who disrupted his beauty sleep and forced him to leave his dorm, before he even had a chance to check his social media and reply to a few DMs.

"But still, can't you at least speak positively of me, on such a big day, considering I'm but a weak sheep among a pack of hungry and vicious wolves." I smiled innocently with a complete set of pearly whites.

"Pfft! If you're a sheep then I guess all the first-year students must be harmless little ants before a great giant," Maze exclaimed in disbelief as she truly couldn't fathom why the universe would gift such an eccentric and playful guy the potential and strength to be crowned the emperor of their generation.

"I second that! Because there is no way the proclaimed Emperor could be a sheep, especially with how many cards he has shown so far!" Ethan shouted from the bottom of the clock tower as he waved for us to come down quickly.

So, they could head off to the cafeteria and grab something to eat before the big brawl occurred later, during which no one would have a chance to rest or even grab something to eat between matches.

"Hey, Ethan, while that may be true, can't you see I'm trying to win the support of my cousin?" I frowned, considering at this pace, I will never be able to change the opinion of my cousin who would rather see me fall than rise.

"Oh, well then screw her, and let's go get something to eat. For even you should know how hard it is to change that stubborn kid's mind, Rin." Ethan said unaware of the calamity that he brought upon himself.

'Lord, as I come before you, I pray for the soul of my friend, Ethan. Oh, Lord, may you guide and protect him as he enters your gates this morning. As I do not think he will be able to witness the light of tomorrow's radiance. So, thank you, and Amen!' Rin prayed as he shook his head and kept quiet while Maze glared at Ethan with anger mixed with killing intent.

Before jumping down from the roof of the clock tower and landing in front of Ethan with a thud.

"Do you mind repeating what you said once again, Ethan, as I don't think I heard earlier?" Maze asked nicely with a grin as she stood before Ethan.

"S...s-sure, however, with what little time we have left before the~" Ethan tried to say before he was grabbed by Maze and slammed onto the ground without a chance to even retaliate, leading to one of the bones within his arm breaking in the process.

Swoosh. Snap. Crack. Thud.

"Tsk and they say girls are weak, and that I'm a disgrace to the Kurama name," Maze muttered with contempt as she scrutinized Ethan and kicked him in his stomach for his earlier disrespect, before proceeding to walk to the cafeteria.

Since she did not want to accidentally send one of the school prospects to the hospital, due to anger on their big day.

"So how does it feel?" I asked as I squatted beside my injured friend and examined the damage, 'Man, truly she doesn't play around; I guess, we can only pray for the wellbeing of whoever marries that demon.'

"Rin, you do know it's rude to see a brother in pain and not offer help. Plus, why is it always me who gets punished when I was just stating a fact?"

"Sadly, I can't tell, my friend, but the answer will come to you one day," I said mysteriously as I stood up and began to walk to breakfast.

"Hey! Where do you think you are going, Rin? Aren't you at least going to help a brother get to breakfast? Rin! Rin! RIIIIIN!"

'Sorry, Ethan but one day we must all crawl our way to victory. Plus, you will be fine even if you don't eat for one day,' Rin thought as he caught up with Maze and traveled with her to the cafeteria, while their friend suffered behind them in agony on the cold concrete floor.

"Sigh, why must it always be me in the end, who suffers in the end?" Ethan complained as he gave up and lay on the ground defeated, glancing at the morning sky as birds flew into the distance.
