Chapter 19—Their Story
"Tell me, how come you look wealthy now?" She eyed him suspiciously. Since she woke up, she has noticed how extravagant her room is and the staff keep referring to him as master or CEO. She was curious but refrained from asking. She wants to hear the truth from the man.
As far as she remembers, he was an orphan that was kicked out of his family in Country A. When she met him for the first time, he was fighting against other kids older than him. She took a liking to him and followed him around afterwards. Later she learned that the boy was living alone in a rundown apartment. She was shocked upon seeing his living condition but never showed pity on her face.
Because she treated him differently than others, he slowly opened up to her and didn't mind whenever she visited him. Xu Long Wei is a quiet boy, and Vera is the same, so after a couple of days, they are inseparable. Compared to others, they both preferred to stay behind and observe others.
Kids are afraid of them, and they stay away as much as they can. They are both well known in the area, and people gossip about the tall boy and the small girl hanging out together.
Soon, Vera's father found out about them and questioned her about her decision to befriend him. Her father has raised her differently, so Vera was not worried at all. She knows that he only wanted the truth from her. So, she told him the truth.
"I like him, Father! I am planning on grooming him to be my husband! You better treat him well, or else I will be very disappointed with you."
Her father was so surprised by her words, his mouth and eyes were wide open. It was very comical that Vera couldn't help laughing out loud. It was always her happiness to tease the man, and that day was no exception. Although deep down, she is planning to fulfill her words. Of course, he doesn't need to know about it.
On the next day, her father called Xu Long Wei and took a liking to him. He felt pity for the boy's situation and informed him that he could move into their house. At first, he rejected my father's offer but later changed his mind.
Since his father ran the underground operation in Country A, Xu Long Wei was also exposed to the world and learned many things from her father. They were both trained by him.
Recalling the past, Vera can't help but compare the Xu Long Wei in front of him to the past.
Where did he get his money from? Did he continue the organization after she was gone?
"To answer your question, after you left, my family contacted me and summoned me to return to Country X. My grandfather has passed away."
Vera, who was busy thinking about the past, was interrupted by his words.
"I see, so your family is powerful in this country?" She asked.
"At the moment, yes, before, we were just one of the wealthy families here." Xu Long Wei humbly said. He continues telling her about his life after she was gone. On that afternoon, the couple talked for a long time. Vera listens intently and can't help but be angry as time goes on. She hates his family. She can't help but feel pain for him.
Vera hugged to comfort him, and they were glued to each other. After a while, Xu Long calls for the food to be brought in the room. They eat together and talk some more.
It was already dark outside when they finished talking, and Vera felt sleepy, so he left after tucking her into bed.
On that night, Vera sleeps peacefully.
