One night, an Angry Black Mask tells five of his men to line up. He then punches one in the face as David Li shakes his head in disapproval.
"Sir, is this really necessary?" Li asks.
"This is how I deal with my anger!" Black Mask yells, punching another guy.
"I understand you are upset about Mr. Sanders arrest. But you must stay calm."
"I am calm!" Mask yells, headbutting one of his employees.
"We need to handle this Nightwing punk right now. I need ideas, not useless advice!"
He knees another guy in the gut.
"We could hire someone to take care of him."
Mask starts grin an evil grin when he hears the suggestion. He then punches the last guy in the face.
"Yeah, I like that plan. Who do you have in mind for the job?"
Li hands him a phone with a picture and his grin gets even bigger. He then tells Martin to call "him" to set it up.
The next night, Nightwing is sitting on a rooftop, watching over the city. He doesn't see any trouble, but he does notice a family walking by. As Dick watches a young boy with his parents, he remembers when he was a boy with his parents as the flying Graysons. He then gets a call on his device in his ear.
"Hey, partner, how's it looking tonight." Aaron asks.
"All clear so far. I'll keep an eye out for a little bit longer, then I'll head back." Dick answers.
"Alright, see you then."
As Aaron hangs up, he gets another call from an old friend and smiles.
"Hey, Alfred, how's my favorite slash only butler?"
"Hello, master Richard, it's good to hear from you, my boy...and I do apologize for this, but it was the only way you would talk to her."
"Talk to-"
Dick's eyes open wide when he realizes who he's talking about.
"Alfred, no, please do not put her on, seriously I don't want to talk to-"
"Hey, Grayson." Barbara says over the phone.
Dick let's out a sigh of frustration.
"Real dirty move using Alfred like that, Barb."
"Would you have answered if I called?"
"Fair enough. Look, Barbara, I-."
At that moment a gun shot is heard through Bludhaven. Dick then looks over and sees that he was shot in the shoulder. Two more shots are fired, but Nightwing quickly ducks behind cover, clutching his shoulder.
"Dick, what happened? Are you ok?" Barbara asks, worried.
"I gotta go, Barb. I'll call you back."
Dick hangs up and tries to see where the gun fire is coming from. He uses one of his wingdings to see the sniper in a construction building nextdoor. Dick takes a deep breath, then jumps out of cover and throws two wingdings, knocking the rifle of course. When the shooter reaims the rifle, he loses sight of Dick. The Shooter then tries to aim the sniper rifle behind him, but Dick grabs him by the neck and the gun. Nightwing recognizes the shooter.
"Hey, Lawton. How's it going?" Dick jokingly asks.
"The names Deadshot. You won't forget it after I'm done with you."
"Why are you in Bludhaven?"
"Now why would a hired gun travel all the way here to shoot somebody?" Deadshot sarcastically asks.
"Ok, so a better question would be, who hired you to kill me?"
"Sorry, I don't kill and tell."
Deadshot elbows Dick in his injured shoulder and kicks him to the ground. He quickly tries to aim the guns on his wrists at Nightwing, but when he turns around, he's gone.
