The sun was now dipping closer to the horizon, casting long shadows across the park. The heat had softened, but the air still hummed with that heavy summer vibe.
Selena stretched and glanced around. "You know, I'm starting to think Mr. Sun isn't as angry as we thought. Just tired."
Gala nodded. "Yeah, maybe he just needed a break."
Just then, a sudden rustling from the bushes caught their attention. Everyone turned toward the noise.
Out stepped a small, scruffy dog, panting hard and looking completely overheated. Its tongue lolled out, eyes bright but tired.
Sam smiled and bent down. "Hey, buddy, you look like you need some help."
The dog wagged its tail weakly and then, surprisingly, trotted right up to Selena and plopped down at her feet.
Selena laughed softly. "Looks like we've got a new friend joining the heatwave squad."
Yan looked around suspiciously. "Do you think this dog belongs to someone? Or maybe it's a sign?"
Gala smiled. "Maybe it's Mr. Sun's way of sending us a companion to help us survive the heat."
Sam scratched the dog behind its ears. "Well, whatever the reason, we can't just leave him here."
Selena stood up and looked at her friends. "Let's find some water for him — and maybe figure out where he came from."
They all nodded in agreement.
As they walked toward the fountain, Selena glanced back toward the sky. The sun was almost gone, but its warmth still lingered.
"Tomorrow's another day," she said softly. "Maybe cooler. Maybe full of surprises."
The dog barked happily as if agreeing.
And somehow, in that moment, the heat didn't feel quite so heavy anymore.
