Chapter 41 - Chapter Six

Vlad walked with his parents as Seth clung onto his arm, they were headed home.

His parents gave them a knowing look and Vlad realised he'd not introduced Seth.

"Mum, Dad this is Seth Clearwater, my mate."

They smiled warmly at him and he felt happy to have everyone he loved together again. Then a thought struck him.

"How could you have known about the blood connection Seth?" Vlad asked.

"Well I just read a lot. Most times, when I should be reading my school work, I read other stuff that I probably shouldn't be reading. It's just more interesting," Seth explained. "I just wish I knew if there were any other witches."

"Witches seldom come out of hiding," Vlad suggested.

"Or they've  been cursed to sleep for eternity," Seth corrected.

"Surely someone must have accidently woken one up or more?" Vlad asked, worrying himself. "That's usually the story, isn't it?"

"Maybe. Even if someone has, witches are cunning and not known for their patience. Not like the other Seth. He is powerful, but patient and understanding," Seth explained.

"Seth is unique. Do you think it's his patience that makes him more powerful? He only uses simple spells and curses," Vlad asked curiously.

"I'm not certain on that, but it could possibly be that Seth has taken the time to master and control his powers to its full potential. Usually  witches just want more power and when they get it, they want even more.  They do not even attempt to master their skills. Power isn't everything especially when not used properly," Seth explained.

"Sorry Mum, sorry Dad, we were trying to figure out a few things and ended up rambling on. When we get to home, we will get you settled in and comfortable. We are having a big gathering tonight," Vlad started to explain, before looking at Seth.

"That's ok honey, what is this gathering about?" His mother asked.

"This gathering is a council meeting that Billy, our chief, organises to discuss certain agendas. He also tells us true stories of our tribes of how we became to be," Seth explained.

"Sounds good, we do love to hear about the history and background of other cultures and it's been too long since we were able to," his father sounded almost excited.

"Our house is just up ahead, we only just moved in ourselves, so most things aren't in their place yet," Vlad blushed.

As the four of them went in, Seth left Vlad to show them around whilst he grabbed a glass from the cupboard, the only thing they had unboxed. He filled his glass with water and necked it.

"Are you alright Seth? You seem worried?" Vlad asked, as he walked to the kitchen to see him holding his empty glass on the counter.

"Oh hi Vlad! Yeah I'm fine. Let's go or we're going to be late," Seth told him.

"Mum, Dad we're off now. Are you sure you want to come, you can stay here and rest?" Vlad asked them.

"No it's fine, it will be nice to meet everyone. Besides we have a lot to catch up on and we would like to get to know your boyfriend," Vlad's mum told him.

They all headed out and it seemed they were the last ones to arrive. They sat right next to Jacob in front of the firepit. Billy then began to speak.

"I would like to thank everyone for coming tonight. What I am about to tell you all is the legend of our tribe and how we survived the witches curse. Many years ago, before we became shifters we lived our lives like any other tribe. Then the cold ones began attacking the witches and even with their powers they were still too fast. So the witches came to us, since we had many strong warriors but we declined because we did not want to interfere with the supernatural world. So, the witches all banded together as one and created a spell and cursed us into shifters. They created us so they could turn us as and when they wanted. After so long there came another witch, her name was Erzulie, she was different, she wanted to help us. She had turned the curse into a gift where we could phase at will and they could not force us. She made sure that each generation grew stronger and faster. The other witches were furious and banished her from their coven, so we took her in. Her power and spirit still remains with us," Billy looked at Ateara then at Seth. "Seth! You were bought here for this reason and I believe that you are the direct descendant of our witch," Billy explained.

"Me? But Medea is the oldest, shouldn't she…" Seth struggled to get the words out.

"Yes, she is the oldest but she chose to use her powers for the wrong reason and just because she is the oldest it doesn't mean she is more powerful. Your power is far greater than you realise," Billy said encouragingly.

Seth stared at Billy before turning to Ateara, "I…" Seth opened his mouth, but Ateara stopped him.

"Seth. You don't need to question Billy's stories, he is after all the chief and all of these stories have been handed down from chief to chief over the generations," Ateara looked at Jacob.

"All we need to know right now is that we are all here for you as you figure this out, and that we can now create a legacy of our own," Ateara smiled before Seth kissed him.

Vlad and Seth saw them kissing and so Vlad moved in closer, but Seth made the move first and kissed him. That evening they had decided to focus on their pack, their family and think about anything else another day.
