Holea's eyes sharpened, her jaw tightening.
"Anything else?" she asked, voice tense. "A name? A voice? A place where you met her? Any way to reach her?"
Yu Mei shook her head, then paused. Her eyes flickered as another thought surfaced.
"Well… there is something," she said slowly. "Every year… I get a text. From an unknown number."
Holea's expression didn't change, but her body leaned in just a little closer.
"What kind of text?"
"It's short. Always the same tone. Just tells me to be careful," Yu Mei replied. "To stay away from certain people. Different names every year. No explanation. No reply option."
"Do you still have them?" Holea asked quickly.
Yu Mei nodded. "I think so. I never deleted them. They're on my phone somewhere."
Holea stood back up, her thoughts racing now. "What kind of people were you told to avoid?"
Yu Mei frowned, struggling again. "I don't remember all the names. It changes each year."
Then, her eyes slowly lifted toward Holea.
