THE WALKING DEAD ALTERNATIVE
---
Chapter 11: CLEMENTINE PART 2
A few days had passed since Clementine met Luke and a few other people. During that week, a few people had also died.
A man named Carver came looking for Rebecca and Luke, but Clementine looked him in the eye and lied.
After going on a search mission to find some lost friends, Luke and the others returned to the cabin, where Clementine explained everything that happened.
Luke:
"So Carver just walked right in like he owns the place, huh?"
Clementine:
"I tried to stop him, but he was stronger than me—and he was armed."
Luke:
"That's okay, Clementine."
Nick:
"So what are we going to do now?"
Carlos:
"We need to leave right now before he comes back."
Alvin:
"I agree with Carlos."
Luke:
"Okay. Clementine, tell Sarah to get her things—we're leaving this place."
(pauses)
"But first... we should bury Pete and say our goodbyes."
Rebecca:
"Good idea."
After saying their goodbyes to Pete, Clementine and the others left the cabin and headed into the woods, looking for a place to stay—somewhere safe from Carver and his men.
Rebecca:
"Clementine... I'm sorry about all those things I said before."
Clementine:
"It's cool. I get it. You're only looking out for your friends. I'd probably do the same."
Rebecca:
"With me being pregnant, and Carver hunting us... it's putting a toll on my mind and body."
Clementine:
"Don't worry, Rebecca. I'll protect you and your baby."
Rebecca:
"Thank you."
Luke:
"What are you two talking about?"
Rebecca:
"I was just apologizing to Clementine."
Luke:
"That's good."
Carlos:
"It's getting late. We should camp here for the night. Alvin and I will get some firewood."
Sarah:
"What should I do, Father?"
Carlos:
"Stay with Clementine."
Luke:
"I'll go hunt a deer or something for dinner."
Clementine:
"Sarah, you can help me protect Rebecca until the others return."
Nick:
"I'll stay behind and watch these three."
Luke:
"Okay, that sounds good to me."
Rebecca:
"Be careful, everyone."
Alvin:
"We will."
---
A few hours passed. Everyone sat around the fire to eat. Luke had managed to shoot a rabbit and a raccoon—enough for everyone to share.
---
Luke:
"Pete was a good friend. I just can't believe that he's dead."
Nick:
"It was my fault. I should've protected him."
Luke:
"Don't beat yourself up over it... he's gone."
Clementine:
"It wasn't your fault, Nick."
Rebecca:
"Sorry to ask, but... could you tell us more about your past, Clementine?"
Carlos:
"Yeah, who took care of you when all this craziness started?"
Clementine:
"A lot of people."
Luke:
"That's good."
Clementine:
"There was this man—his name was Lee. When the apocalypse first started, he found me and protected me."
Nick:
"What happened to him?"
Clementine:
"He got bit... the end."
---
THE NEXT DAY
---
Clementine and the group walked until they reached a bridge. Luke pulled out a pair of binoculars and scanned ahead.
---
Luke:
"There's a building up there—on the mountain."
Carlos:
"We should check it out. Maybe there's food."
Alvin:
"Maybe."
Luke:
"Okay. Clementine will come with me to check it out."
Carlos:
"Are you crazy, Luke? Clementine is a child."
Luke:
"She's not like Sarah, Carlos. Clementine is strong—and brave."
Nick:
"Maybe I should go with you instead."
Luke:
"No. You stay here with the others. If anything happens, I'll signal you."
Nick:
"...Okay."
---
Luke and Clementine headed toward the bridge. As they crossed, a group of walkers attacked.
They fought them off, barely making it through, and continued their way across—until a man appeared, pointing a gun at them.
---
Clementine:
"Luke... what should we do?"
Luke:
"You should talk to him, Clementine."
Clementine:
"Why me?"
Luke:
"'Cause you're younger. And you're a girl."
Clementine:
"Fine..."
---
The man got closer, gun still raised.
---
Man:
"Who are you? What do you want?"
Clementine:
"My name is Clementine, and this is my friend Luke. We were heading toward the mountains."
Man:
"Okay. My name's Matthew. But you can call me Matt."
Clementine:
"So... do you live up here by yourself, Matthew?"
Matthew:
"No.
Are you guys hungry? I got food if you want some."
Luke:
"We'd be grateful."
Matthew:
"It's mostly peaches, though."
Clementine:
"That's okay. Thanks."
---
Just as Matthew relaxed, pointing his gun slightly away, he suddenly shouted.
---
Matthew:
"Don't move!"
---
Luke spun around—and saw Nick aiming his rifle at Matthew.
---
Luke:
"Don't shoot!"
---
But it was too late. Nick pulled the trigger.
A single shot rang out—hitting Matthew in the neck. He staggered, blood pouring out, and tumbled off the bridge.
---
Nick:
"Did I... did I kill him?"
Luke:
"What the fuck is wrong with you?! I told you not to shoot!"
Nick:
"I—I didn't hear you properly!"
Clementine:
"So if you didn't hear properly... why did you squeeze the trigger?!"
Nick:
"I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry... I'm so sorry..."
Luke:
"Never mind that. Just tell Carlos and the others to get over here!"
Nick:
"Okay..."
---
They finally crossed the bridge and made it to the other side.
---
Carlos:
"It'll probably take us two hours to reach the building."
Alvin:
"Can Rebecca rest her feet for a little?"
Carlos:
"Sure. I think everyone needs to rest."
Clementine:
"I found some food."
Luke:
"Thank God. I'm starving."
Clementine:
"Here you go, Rebecca. Eat up."
---
Clementine handed Rebecca a can of peaches.
Suddenly—walkers began appearing from the trees.
---
Luke:
"We need to go. Now!"
Carlos:
"Sarah! Stay next to me!"
Sarah:
"Okay, Daddy!"
Clementine:
"Get ready to fight, everyone!"
