Victoria's POV
"Mmm, I can tell you look happy today," Trina said, her tone light, but her eyes—those piercing, wolf-like eyes—were quietly observing me, reading deeper than words ever could.
I smiled, unable to hide it anymore. There was no point pretending, not in front of her. Trina had always been able to see through my silence, as if my thoughts played like open pages in her mind.
"Yes, I am," I admitted softly, a warmth spreading in my chest. "He's back, Trina. And I don't want to keep it to myself anymore. I love him. I don't care what happens from here on—I just know that being with him, even for a moment, makes me feel like I'm alive again."
She didn't smile right away. Her expression remained thoughtful, almost wary. "Of course you're happy," she said at last. "But you know it won't be easy. Nothing is. Not when the Dark King's shadow still lingers over our world. Love is powerful, but it's also the first thing the darkness tries to destroy."
