"I don't understand, Holy See," said the Valian Bishop. "Why could the enemy corrupt Bishop Schrank? I mean, although I am not close with Bishop Schrank, his reputation within the Church Court is well acknowledged, and he does not seem like someone who could be bought off or corrupted."
"If it's an Extraordinary Power, why didn't Raphael detect it earlier? Could it really be, as they say, the Anti-Christ?"
"My dear Valian," Innocent leaned on the railing, holding a pipe, "Would you like a smoke?"
"Thank you, but I've quit smoking."
Innocent stuffed tobacco into his pipe, lit it, and took a slow draw.
"Raphael is not omnipotent," he exhaled a puff of smoke and said, "At least from this position where we stand, it cannot monitor us."
