“I’m here to collect, Rion,” Katheryn spat at me. “Hand over my payment for risking my life to help you save your crazy sister. Pay up, or I’ll shoot out your legs and take them instead.”
“Katheryn,” I said as calmly as I could, tugging at the ropes that were wrapped around my body. “Put the gun away and untie me. I can pay you what you are owed, plus interest.”
I could tell from the way that she tilted her chin up that she was skeptical. She seemed to read my expression for a long moment.
“If you put a single bullet in him, you will pay dearly for it,” Jasper promised in a low voice. “You are completely surrounded. Do as he says.”
Katheryn looked around. It was true. There were at least a half dozen of my men surrounding her, waiting for her to make the wrong move so they could take the gun from her.
“Stand down,” I snapped at the guys. “She deserves to get her payment. She and I had a deal and she upheld her part of the bargain.”
