*Daphne*
My eyelids fluttered open and I squinted at the early morning light that streamed in through our bedroom window. Rion was still asleep, his eyelashes brushing his cheekbones. I wondered if he remembered our conversation from the night before, wincing as I remembered the despair and loneliness I had felt when he stormed out of our house.
I had been depressed but also extremely angry, intent on sleeping in separate beds the night before. But I was relieved when he came and found me and took me back to our bedroom. I didn’t really want to sleep without him.
Rion shifted slightly before opening his dark gray eyes. My heart stopped for a moment until he focused on me and offered me a soft smile.
I beamed at him, beyond relieved that we seemed to be on good terms again. He moved toward me and put his arms around me, pulling me against his chest. He looked into my eyes and frowned, tracing the skin beneath my eye. “You look exhausted,” he said disapprovingly.
