Chapter 374 - Chapter 371: Second Familiar Idea

As always, Giliath demands your power stones!

*****

'Sheesh. Tama is already catching up to me. She certainly received a power-up since she unlocked her seventh tail. She can control all of the elements now. Each tail does that. Being able to freely change an element is definitely going to give us an advantage in battle too, especially since she has a single target and an area-of-effect attack now...', I mused to myself. Additionally, Tamamo's getting a bunch of element efficacy boosting too. I'm liking this the more and more I see it.

One particular thing to point out was that Tamamo's primary element boosting was Water, Fire, and Space, which directly matched my Combat Orbment. Considering that Tamamo mentioned that she's directly tied to my soul, like my Gamer System, I wonder if that is factoring into this.

"I'm pretty good now, aren't I?", Tamamo questioned with a playful smile on her lips. She puffed her furry chest out in pride, acting as if she was expecting me to react like this.

"This looks really good on paper, but you'll have to test this out personally when you go hunt monsters. I'm expecting good results from you.", I happily replied. Tamamo was close enough. I reached my hand out, and began ruffling her silvery-white fur. It sure has been a hot minute since I've done this. It was very warm and fluffy to the touch.

"Roger-roger!", Tamamo replied. Just hearing that alone caused my ruffling to pause. My eyes started to twitch.

"...Where did you hear that phrase from?", I questioned. Tamamo said that while saluting with one of her small paws, I couldn't help but recall a certain someone appearing in my head while she did that.

"It was that scarlet-haired man who was always in your shadow, Master. I already forgot his name, though.", Tamamo replied.

"Oh dear Aidios...", I retorted. "Just where did that asshat have enough time to feed you nonsense?", I continued to say, letting out a sigh.

"That's what you get for leaving the dumb fox unattended for a certain amount of time. She picks up random crap like that.", Celine retorted me.

"Minus that point, however. Am I really seeing this right? You can embed the Elements into your spells now, Tama?", Celine questioned. "And that's all of them?", Celine continued, still doubtful.

"That seems to be the case. My tails are pretty special, it turns out. I wonder, if I continue to evolve, will they change color?", Tamamo asked, shifting her eyes down to her silvery-white tails. She spun them around. Each one was almost as big as her own body, being two to three feet long. That's why I was starting to get annoyed. They're big, and it seems Tamamo has been taking care of her tails during my absence.

Well, Tamamo is a fox, so I wouldn't blame her for it.

"I guess only time will tell for that. Why don't we get ready to start the day? Like I said before, I'll be hanging out today, and probably spend time with Alfin. You're free to go around Heimdallr to your heart's content.", I said to the two.

"Okay!", Tamamo said, nodding her head. Taking a moment, she jumped up from the bed, approaching my position. I was leaning forward now, and my body was upright. Tamamo was still small enough to take her place where she usually liked to be. Perching on the right side of my shoulders.

"Hmm. I might go for another catnap, then. You sure have gotten all buddy-buddy with that princess, huh?", Celine asked me.

"Haha! Alfin and I are to be wed in the future, and we've already gotten pretty close as it is. I'm sure she'll want to spend this remainder of the week together, considering her next school term starts up next week.", I explained.

"Speaking of that, when am I going to get another brother or sister, Master? Weren't you going to try to find some time to create a Familiar to call your own, without Roselia's assistance?", Tamamo asked me.

"Wait, you can do that? I was getting suspicious about seeing that myself. Familiar Slot, as I recall? I haven't heard a single Witch owning two Familiars before...", Celine uttered.

"I am not so sure myself. But seeing as my ability sees it as a possibility, I'm sure it can be done. It's still in the planning phase. But seeing as I'll have enough down time from here on, I'll try creating one. That will have to be until after my training period is over. I need to conserve my energy for that.", I explained.

"I'm already looking forward to it!", Tamamo happily replied. She's eager, huh? I won't blame her. It's as she stated, she would essentially be getting a new family member out of this. Celine did mention that she hasn't come across a single Witch that had two Familiars, so I will be treading unknown territory. During our idle time in Crossbell City, I did ask Roselia herself, and she said it is possible, in theory.

Especially since Roselia used her own mana to create Tamamo, and tied her to my mana core, which was equivalent to binding Tamamo to my soul. Perhaps she did it in a way where the entirety of my soul wasn't used? I don't know the specifics. But it's a possibility that can happen.

I've got a rough idea of my second Familiar too. They take after animals. I'm taking into consideration how my combat presently performs in battle. Tamamo's barriers can only go so far. They offer a good form of protection, but therein was the problem. What happens when a barrier gets shattered? It exposes me during battle. Sure, I take pride in my speed and accuracy. But if I come across someone powerful enough, let's say, the Thunder God. All my strength could easily amount to nothing due to how powerful his swings can be.

On a side note, that is why I am going to do a training period under his tutelage. It is to strengthen that foundation.

Imagine. What if you could tank those attacks with ease? That's the rough idea I'm going for. To create a Familiar with powerful defensive capabilities. I wouldn't have to maintain the frontline during combat. Tamamo could continue supporting me from the rear, while I remain in the middle. A perfect combination if I can create a Familiar who could tank the front!

You get the idea.

And taking into consideration animals which can act like a tank, I can only think of a handful of them. Once my training is over, I'll likely have decided by then. To keep the flow going, Celine spoke out to the two of us.

"Anyway, if you're not going to do much today, I'm going back to bed. We can continue to review this status thing later.", Celine said. She jumped around the bed, and found a good spot. The pillow I previously used. She curled up into a ball before I knew it.

"You...", I uttered.

"Hehe, Celine sure acts mighty, but she likes to sleep a lot. Where to next, Master?", Tamamo asked me, still resting atop my right shoulder.

"Hmm. Good question--?", I tried to respond. I couldn't do anything before we heard a knock at the door.

"And here I thought you would be sleeping in today, but you sure are an early riser. It sounds like you've already started to have some fun too.", A voice called out to us, knocking on the door. It was locked, so it's not like someone could just randomly wander into this room.

Seeing Celine now sleeping away again, I decided to ignore her for the time being. I was dressed in a high quality night robe made up entirely out of silk. It was very smooth to the touch, and pretty comfortable to wear. My equipment was currently unequipped, so my present stats were altered. I don't wear equipment constantly twenty-four seven like you do in the games. I do shuffle casual wear with those.

All the more reason to exchange those equipment I've accumulated through Questing, into Mira. The Blazing Forge, which got unlocked yesterday, allows me to exchange equipment into Mira. I'll need to explore that too.

So much to do, huh?

Well, I didn't need to remain idle for the time being, so I jumped off the bed, and wandered toward the room's entrance. This room wasn't anything fancy. A single bed. A nightstand near the left of the bed with a lamp on it. Central lighting too. A desk off to the middle left, and a bigger dresser and changing area, which I will personally use before leaving the room. I was in my robe, I couldn't wander far without changing into my normal wear.

I was considering putting on my Phoenix Robe, but that might attract attention if I do wander out into the districts later. I figure Alfin might want to bring me to places she wants to visit, so casual wear will likely be the way to go.

If there was one thing to point out that this room had, it was the closed vermillion-colored laptop resting on the top of the desk. Keeping track of the Gamer System and what it all can do is quite taxing on the mind. Thankfully I was brought into a world where it is technologically advanced, just as my previous life was. Perhaps even more so. I use that laptop to record all of the data my Gamer System has.

I should probably let Tio fiddle with the laptop at some point so she can create an easy-to-use application for it. The kind where you just press a single button, and it'll display a person's info.

There were still some personal items lacking, like a television. That will come out in due time, but not until the orbal net really picks up. It had just gotten recently installed, and before long, the electronic appliances using the orbal net will follow. I've read that Calvard even has a rising film industry, compared to other nations. Cinemas are being built, and they even hire movie actresses. Just like how movie stars were in my previous life.

It was definitely something to look forward to in the coming years. Daybreak's scenario, unfortunately, doesn't happen for another eight years, at the very earliest. That's a very long way away. By then, I'll be twenty-one years old haha!

There sure is a lot to look forward to!
