"Evan?!"
Barely a second after Beatrix's shocked voice rang out, blood began trickling from the corners of his eyes. Sparks crackled out of his pupils, snaking like electric tendrils across his face.
Arthur, who had been walking ahead alongside Artemisia, immediately snapped his head toward Evan at the sound of Beatrix's voice. The moment he saw Evan's condition, he instantly understood what was happening.
"Evan, this is—!"
"I know."
Evan cut him off, gritting his teeth as he struggled to stay upright, leaning on Beatrix for support. His breathing was shallow, but he managed to glance at Arthur, his voice strained.
"It's the law of time, isn't it?"
Arthur gave a silent nod, and Evan let out a dry, humourless chuckle, not the least bit surprised.
"The law of time…?"
Beatrix asked, confusion written all over her face as she looked between the two.
