Gao Guang could see the beam of light from Santos' flashlight. He couldn't keep up with Santos' speed, but he wasn't too far behind to lose sight of him—he could still follow along.
However, after following for a while, Gao Guang suddenly noticed that the beam of light had stopped moving. It wasn't far away, which meant Santos, after rallying a group of men to chase fortune with him, had only gone a short distance before stopping again.
By the time Gao Guang and the dozen or so others caught up, Santos was still standing in the same spot.
"Why did you stop? Why aren't we chasing anymore?"
To Gao Guang's question, Santos didn't bother hiding anything. He leveled his flashlight and pointed it to a specific spot. After shaking it a couple of times, the beam finally settled, illuminating a section of water through a gap in the dense forest.
