Rui's primary goal had been to test how well his healing and regenerating faired against the likes of the Devil. After all, the man was a sovereign of destruction, and there was no better opponent to help him discover his healing limits.
The other Martial Sages were most likely too weak to push him far enough to show him exactly where he was done.
Now, however, he was done with holding back.

He surged forth as he activated all of his Martial Art in all its glory, activating Neo Godspeed while surging towards the Devil with a blinding high velocity. The previous exchanges had confirmed for him personally about just how absurdly destructive the Devil's attacks were. His most powerful attacks were able to easily overcome Rui's most powerful defenses.
This made sense, given that Rui was not a defensive powerhouse while the Devil most certainly was a destructive powerhouse.
Thus, his approach adaptively evolved to handle the Devil's greatest strengths appropriately.
