Grass was as smooth as mother's embrace and was making a perfect bed for this tired soul. Golden rays of midday sun were gently descending on his plain green uniform, which was showing his status as an outer disciple of the Undead Gu sect and warming his body, which was freezing inside from previous event.
He didn't even have enough power to think and calmly laid there, looking at these pale clouds, displayed on the azure colored background. Birds were chirping happily accompanied by a low boozzing of weak breeze, which was continuing blowing without a worry to what would happen to this mortal.
Sensation, which he was feeling and scenery before him were so peaceful that he didn't manage to meantime his awakeness. Eyelids of his darkened eyes moved towards one another till they merged with each other.
When he once again opened up them it was already evening. Darkened clouds were swimming into grayed sky and last rays of setting sun were painting horizon with crimson color. Few stars were already showing their lights too.
"What?!" He screamed and quickly sat up. Last memory, which he had, was sound of explosions in his body and unimaginable pain after that. But now as he was looking at this picture before him previous incident just felt like a bad nightmare.
"How am I still alive?" He asked himself with astonished face as he looked at his hand, which first time since he reincarnated had some vitality into it. With a little more attention he could even felt how ghost Gu was nourishing his body with mystic Qi. Tonic of his skin was becoming darker and his strength was rapidly growing.
"Ah! Right." he said when last memories finally make their way into his mind. He lost war against his Gu worm for domination on this body. After that there should have been only one fate for him and that was to become a ghoul, mindless beast, which was controlled by Gu. But that didn't happen; instead Ghost Gu gave up on this body and now was even helping him to recover. Logically speaking Ghost Gu speared him, which on its own was out from logic as one would think to what kind of creature Ghost Gu was.
"Why it stopped? Only one explanation is that Gu decided that this position was much more profiting for it, then to have a control on this body. But, why? Did it found something inside my body? Or is there completely different reason for this?" His mind was jumping from one thought to another without any satisfying conclusion.
"Haah... Everything is just too much for me." He said with a weak voice as he completely gave up on the idea to find a reason behind of this incident. This was cultivation world, world where many strange things were happening and it was out of question, that there would be many confusing event, which for him would be hard to understand, moreover with his beginner level knowledge.
"I will search about it, when I will be back in the main part of sect. But before that..." He continued as he looked down on his body. Ghost Gu in his acupoint had calmed down and from a look of it there shouldn't been any problem from it for time being. But, he suspected that previous incident would leave some marks in his body. This doubt was becoming stronger as he was thinking about explosions, which happened in his body before he would surrender with pain.
With this thought he calmly took meditation position and want back into state of trance to check condition of his body. Process want much more smoother this time. For urgency of previous event mastery which he had on this process quickly grew. It only took couple of minutes and he could already feel every part of his body. But instead to be happy about this, he got nervous.
'My cultivation is destroyed!' Timothy thought as he didn't find any trace of mystic Qi in his body. His attention followed at destroyed acupoint till he found his true acupoint center. In there he could see how small white worm was lying and creating mystic Qi. Its body was absorbing small shining blue dots of light and white thin line, which didn't had any beginning or ending was coming out from his mouth and connecting with edge of his true acupoint center. This white light, which was looking like a spider's web was mystic Qi, main source of cultivator's power.
'This damned thing. Not only had it destroyed my acupoint, but all eight fake acupoint center too. Even my true acupoint center is unnourished. With the look of it I'm now at the first layer of Qi refinement realm!' Right now Timothy wanted to kill this little devil. With the 'help' of this small 'friend' he lost his little power, which was supporting his almost nonexistent confidence and become probably weakest cultivator in an entire sect. He was angry and was becoming more angrier as he thought that he couldn't do anything against this worm, or else he would lose his thin chance to become an immortal. In this world it was possible to change one's cultivated Gu. With it cultivator would lose his cultivation, which at this point wasn't really a problem for Timothy. But it needed some kind of spiritual herb or treasure as a catalyst or else with this act cultivator would destroy his true acupoint.
Timothy had a one star acupoint, which meant that he only had one true acupoint center. Without it he would be a mortal forever. For Timothy, who was obsessed with living even in his previous life this would be a worst possible outcome. For this reason he tried to calm down as he looked at small worm.
More he was looking at it more he felt that something was wrong with it. Problem was that it was identical of his second Gu worm, which previous holder of this body tried to plant in his acupoint. Their color, size or anything else was identical. Only thing that was different was black line, which was circled on a place where it should have been its neck and was making some kind of ancient Chinese characters. But previous Timothy Viel was cultivating this Gu since he became a cultivator and at this point it should have been fully mature tenth tier Ghost Gu. Different from newborn Ghost Gu, which hardly could be considered as a first tier one.
'This is tier one Gu...' He thought. 'But, there shouldn't be something like this.'
Gus weren't like cultivators. Their tier wasn't depending on their acupoint, which they didn't have in a first place, but to how mature they were. For them regressing tier was same as adult man become a child, which in normal circumstances was impossible.
"Did it mutate?" This was only possible explanation, which he could think about. Once Gu worm would reach tenth tier and its owner would make a breakthrough, with cultivator Gu too would reach higher realm and would mutated into better quality Gu. White grade Gu would become iron grade one, iron grade bronze grade and so on. But Ghost Gu in his body was white grade tier one Ghost Gu, which was confusing.
More confusing thing was characters on its neck. With the closer look it felt as if he had seen them somewhere. But couldn't remember where he did it. Despite the fact, that he had original Timothy Viel's memories, they weren't fully fused with his mind and he thought that this was reason for his confusion.
"Something isn't right with my Gu!" He said as he opened up his eyes. Once again he thought that something wasn't right but couldn't do anything about it. Only thing that he could do was to go back in main library of Undead Gu sect and search about them. And that was what he was going to do, as he stood up and looked at the sky, which was already sparkling with thousand stars.
"I should move as soon as possible." He said, but before he would take even a one step. Strange emotionless voice echoed in his mind and white holographical screen appeared in his vision.
