Chapter 24 - Chapter 24 - Armies clash

Alongside humans stood mana beasts. Unbeknownst to the enemy, a small animal had became their absolute leader.

Underneath the thick and almost indestructible ice, both armies had already clashed. Flesh and blood painted the blue waters crimson red.

The Queen, too, clashed with being comparable to SSSS rank. On the surface, a brief wave of silence was engulfed in roars and songs of humanity, boosting morale.

Division of humans sang a song of 100 victories as their voices boosted every human. Mana beasts had their own division as well and their roars like a volcano made the mana beasts ready to explode.

The general of the enemy army swung her sword. Battlefield which was loud and filled with moral turned into a silent one.

A second after, a sword mark appeared on the ground as she split the once almost indestructible ice in almost two.

Two SSS ranks alongside with hundred SS rankers barely defended against her casual swing. Silent desperation overtook humans for a second.

One human had none of that though and began singing once again.

"So what if we die? At least we can die knowing that we defended our home planet till our last breath!" Someone said as his voice woke up many people.

"Well said!" Magnus said as he appeared between the armies. Sophia too appeared amongst the army. Waiting for a signal.

Powerful mana eclipsing SSSS rank by an uncountable amount of times gushed forth. A warning from the man sitting on the throne against Magnus.

He just smirked at the provocation and nullified the presence of his own. Once the man saw that he could battle with his aura. He laughed, and the army began to march again.

The main general marched too. Unconcerned with the presence of Magnus. Appearance of their number one recognised human brought hope to many.

Alas, they knew that he had to hold back until the man on the throne makes a move. However, to the surprise of many.

A small honey badger appeared next to the enemy general. His presence was still at SSS rank, but infinitely closer to her rank.

To her surprise, the SSS rank scrub wasn't split in half with her swing. And much to her dismay, he employed his farts.

A colorful sludge of effects and the smell which passed through the skin was too potent even for her. The armour was further encased in a membrane made of mana, blocking its effects to a high degree.

To not be outdone. The Honey Badger used his claws in a singular extreme point which broke through the membrane.

Within the half minute or so of their clash. Armies were too battling with each other. Elves and rare demons bombarded Earth's army.

Dwarven constructs hundreds of meters in height. Like giants created chaos on the battlefield.

Humans, stripped of their technology, weren't weak either. Spells of many kinds responded with the bombardment.

Slowed down the dwarven constructs and mowed down the enemy cannonfodder. Mana beasts, like sturdy shields, defended weaker humans and unleashed their own skills as well.

The moving terrain didn't make it easier. Sometimes the iceberg would split in half as a powerful SSSS rank attack blasted through it.

Ever so changing battlefield and many unknown spells forced the two sides to focus on defense rather than pure offence.

Soon it changed to a battle of high ranked beings with armies supporting them. S ranks clashed. SS ranks ganged up against SSS rankers and their battle shook the skies.

The two human SSS rankers joined the Honey Badger, and they suppressed the enemy general. More SSS rank auras appeared, but were slowed down by few SSS rank mana beasts.

A rankers dropped like flies and S rankers barely held on. The enemy general, as if she had enough. Summoned a series of huge meteors kilometers wide as they split and rained on the enemy.

S rankers could barely stop the smallest meteors as rest broke through. Magnus' disciples took action as well.

Aki broke the momentum of those meteors. Oliver's army and the army of the Roman Empire both took out the largest ones one by one.

Caroline had already joined the main battle and could do little to help. Though Han stayed behind and defended the non combatant humans.

It wasn't enough to get rid of everything in time, and humans were forced to show their first trump card.

Mana beasts and humans appeared together. Some merged, and some boosted the mana beasts. They combined might easily reaching SS rank.

The enemy general didn't get scot free though. The Honey Badger took the millisecond she used to cast the spell and used a large chunk of his mana to shed blood.

Wound few centimeters big appeared on her shoulder. No matter how small. Everyone knew that she can bleed, and it was enough.

A silent battle continued between the man on the throne and Magnus.

"Alright, it seems that you deserve to know my name before you die... Behold, for I am Tighearna and I will conquer the light dimension!" Tighearna said, as those words reached Magnus only.

The whole time everyone kept shedding blood and tears. Magnus' and Tighearna's presence kept increasing. Both sides gauging their limits.

If anyone dared to enter their small contest, they'd be reduced to a pulp in an instant. Their only spectator were two eyes well hidden in the human army.

For an hour, the battle continued. The clash between the enemy general resulted in a somewhat pyrrhic victory, as she only lost her hand.

They, on the other hand, lost 2 SSS rankers and the Honey Badger was seriously injured as well. Monsters in the depths of the water had long lost thousands of SS rank beings.

The Queen's almighty and unquestionable visage was gone. Replaced by a pathetic sight.

Her armor and even the 'indestructible' were either cracked or bent. Even when she was on the brink of unconsciousness, she stood tall.

In front of her was the disintegrating body of the SSSS rank aquatic white whale. Its massive body turned into nourishment for her and her army.

The battle beneath had been won.

Situation on the top had not been so good though. Almost half of the SS rank humans and mana beasts were just unrecognisable corpses.

If not for the formations keeping the enemy somewhat in check, the enemy SS rankers would have long broke through and slaughtered the weak.

The leaders had decided to use the second trump card they had. Albeit unworthy, below B rank, humans and mana beasts alike were not sitting around.

Since a year ago, a new spell had been created. One which they fueled every single day in the preparation for this very moment.

A lanky old man appeared in the sky above the armies.

"Descend! Oh warriors of the past, descend and give your descendants the power to defend and slay the enemy!" He said as golden runes appeared next to him.

His long chant was almost interrupted a thousand times by the enemy army, not willing to see what it was up to.

Futile, the attempt was. After ten seconds of chanting, a beam of mana eclipsing Magnus' and Tighearna's dozen fold engulfed the old man.

He turned into dust, replaced by a golden gate. A brief silence enveloped the place as they opened. From inside first appeared a man.

Perfection would be an insult to his appearance. The main character of the very first Epic appeared.

Gilgamesh, alongside mythical heroes, descended. With Gilgamesh absorbing the largest chunk, his pure raw power reached SSSS rank.

Heroes like Hercules and Arjuna, whose terrifying arrows reached the peak of SSS rank, used their wrath and unleashed it fully against the enemy.

In an instant, the power of the humans and mana beasts multiplied threefold. Massive casualties followed as the body of the heroes turned illusionary.

Gilgamesh clashed with the enemy general as he exchanged blow for blow whilst laughing. His body turned corporeal almost at first, but his onslaught resulted in the enemy general's new arm to be destroyed once again.

Her armor ruined and sword broken. By the time Gilgamesh vanished, she looked nothing more than a defenseless maiden.

Even a few strands of her hair turned golden before demonic power suppressed it. Alas, she wasn't worthy of being the saved maiden in the fairy tale.

Tighearna snapped his finger as an ungodly amount of demonic power engulfed the broken maiden. What remained was a monster and a dead soul.

She stood up, body shrouded by dark mist as her body reached the peak of SSSS rank. Rest of the heroes unleashed their iconic moves before they vanished.

Worthless was their attempt. One by one, those spells broke down right before her body. A strike dozen times more powerful than her first casual strike was unleashed upon the army.

Thousands of shields which broke down like paper appeared. Just in time, the Queen too had appeared above and created a powerful shield with her regenerated mana.

Yet, her weakened power managed to only half the strike. To show her absolute dominance, the corrupted general unleashed the same strike again.

At that moment, right before the strike landed. Sophia appeared. She looked unconcerned, as if she was on a picnic.

Whenever she went, flowers sprouted even though there was just ice everywhere.

"Destroy." She said as both of the strikes just vanished. For a second, the main system appeared with its huge eye before it closed and vanished.

Dumbfounded, everyone looked at her as she vanished and appeared near the corrupted general. Thousands of blows were exchanged between the two in a few seconds.

Each powerful blow from the corrupted general summoned powerful winds, and its presence would cut anyone up.

And yet those blows stopped just a centimeter away from Sophia's body. On the other hand, the corrupted general's body received a massive blow each time Sophia said a single word.

As if commanding the reality, her words were the law. More demonic power engulfed the corrupted general as her body began to break down.

A silent tear trickled down her face...

No one noticed, though, and even if they did, they would not care. Sophia's powerful attacks had been met with equally powerful attacks as she began to dodge instead of tanking everything.

The sky howled in pain as small tears of space briefly appeared, creating a suction force. Even the silent match between Magnus and Tighearna stopped as they observed the two.

Sophia summoned her armour and a large battle axe. The enemy's amour barely held her body together.

She still held on though and gradually Sophia's body began to sweat. Her eyes unwillingly looked at the counter in the corner of her eyes as they neared zero.

End it or die. Those were her options, as she had just a few seconds before the end. The battle axe shone in bright blue light and its weight began to multiply to no end.

Words flowed out of her mouth. Reinforce, Sharpen, Strengthen...

Each time they did, the aura of the battle axe grew ever so stronger. Almost broken down, the corrupted general too unleashed every piece of the demonic power stored within her.

A spear made out of flesh with an eye just below its tip appeared. Dead bodies, their resentment and emotions right before their death, became the perfect nourishment.

Its power and size kept growing and soon eclipsed the battle axe, making it look comical. Sophia didn't panic.

Her words continued to strengthen nonstop, as if it was the only thing she knew to do.

The power of the two weapons alone forced the halt of the battle. Two armies watched the peak of power they had never imagined was possible.

One axe and spear soon met and in the epicenter of their clash, a real space wound appeared for a few seconds.

As if a Gigatonne nuke had gone off, both armies were engulfed in bright light. At the moment, Magnus and Tighearna made a move for the first time.

Barrier appeared and defended both armies. The power those two weapons reached forced both of them to exert a considerable amount of effort.

For two minutes, the aura kept continuing before it was inevitably extinguished.

In the air, the corrupted general mouthed two words before her body broke down and turned into ash.

Sophia couldn't hold on anymore and her body fell from the skies, empty of every single drop of mana.

"Good job girl." Magnus said as he caught her and gave her to the best medics still alive.

He looked at Tighearna, and he knew that it was time for their clash.

No one was worthy of interfering, a clash of 'gods'.
