Margaret, with her face veiled, gripped Charles's hand anxiously and asked the elderly man in a white coat before her, "Doctor, how is it? Has Mr. Charles's condition improved?"
The old man sighed and shook his head. "I'm sorry, we have tried all kinds of conventional treatments on him, but not a single one has made a difference. Can you tell me what caused your husband's illness?"
Margaret's face showed a trace of difficulty, as she suddenly realized she knew very little about Mr. Charles.
Seeing the young woman's expression, the Doctor didn't ask further. "Based on what you've said, his previous profession was a sailor; I suspect this is not a psychiatric illness."
"Doctor, are you saying Mr. Charles doesn't have a mental problem? Then what kind of problem is it?"
Seeing the worry on Margaret's face, the old Doctor took off his reading glasses and said, "However, things might not be without hope. I can't help you here, but you might consider looking at it from another angle."
