"Mr. Charles, what are you doing?" Lily, standing over the stove, curiously watched as Charles fiddled with the tin pipe.
"Sigh." The stove was lit, and white steam traveled through the cooling pipe to the other side, condensing into droplets and falling into a cup.
Boiling seawater to produce freshwater was a very simple process. Heating seawater generated steam, which, when cooled and condensed, resulted in pure water.
When Lily tasted the distilled water, her eyes immediately lit up, "It tastes great, Mr. Charles, you are really amazing to turn seawater into freshwater."
As Lily looked at Charles's somber face, her ears that had just perked up drooped again, "Mr. Charles, we have water now, why aren't you happy?"
Charles's hand stroked her fluffy head, "It's not that simple."
Anyone could distill water, not just Charles—people from Earth Sea could too, but there was a reason everyone didn't do it.
