Charles soon glimpsed a smile on the Pope's face, seemingly imbued with kindness.
The statue moved, and the Pope's eyes darted towards the papers on Charles's desk.
With a slight gesture, the paper flew into his hands. "You're also keeping an eye on the conflicts among the Governors? What's your view on their current situation?"
"Shouldn't I be asking you that question? It's clearly you behind Swann."
The Pope carelessly threw the paper aside. "Child, you don't trust me, you never do. So, what now? All your preparations have come to naught. I've told you this isn't your concern."
Clearly, he referred to Charles's naval preparations, which the strategic plans of Hope Island couldn't escape from his notice.
"You once said that this was part of the plan. So tell me, what is really your goal? I feel our goals are not the same."
A trace of dust shook off the Pope as he shook his head.
