The ten-sided star arrangement, mirror-like clear cold pools are situated in the open area directly in front of the "Sea of Silence" camp. The layout is exquisite and filled with ancient charm. The large cold pools measure about ten or so acres in size, while the small ones are just over a dozen yards wide. The waterfall that flows down from the mountain top into the valley converges into a ring-shaped river, like the arms of a mother, tightly embracing the ten mirror-like cold pools.
The originally omnipresent sea of flowers and lush grass in the wetland basin has all transformed into sparsely scattered winter jasmine plants and cold-tolerant moss around these ten cold pools. The puddles that were everywhere on the wetland have all turned into glistening ice hollows around the cold pools, and even a few cow hoof print hollows are blooming with branches of snow-white and fiery red mixed together in the cotton grass.
