Chapter 9 - Interrogation Part II

Inside a a fast food restaurant, Ax was casually eating a cheeseburger whilst waiting for the doctor, Hershell, to arrive. It was already his second burger. Been waiting for so long.

A shady man in black came to his table and sat in front of him.

Ax looks at him as he was settling down. "Shouldn't the one who did the invitation came first?" Ax said before sucking on his drink.

"Well, I need to prepare something."Simply answered Ax with his eyes looking straight into Ax's eyes.

At first, Ax was just staring at him blankly for a moment. He actually waiting for Hershell to start speaking. But doesn't seems to speak any time soon. So he took the chance to inspect the doctor's outfit. And it is super shady. Black long sleeve shirt, black trousure, black beanie along with black rubber gloves. He could not thinks of any good reason of why somebody would wear that kind of outfit other than to commit crime. And crime is not a good thing.

Therefore, a speculation was formed in his mind. Though it was just a guess. "Are you actually... Intending to kill me secretly?" An eyebrow was raised.

A smile shaped on Hershell's face. "Yes. I am."

Suddenly, a faint shockwave could be felt to passed through Ax Then, he realized that the sound of people chattering around him had gone even though they were still talking but it just could not be heard anymore.

'Hm? I can still hear my breathing. But not those around me?' He was taken aback by it because he most certainly did not expect it. But then a smirk shaped on his face. Realization hits him soon after that they both are inside an invisible barrier.

"Barrier... I guess this is magic. Interesting. You're not a normal doctor, aren't you?" He leans back on the cushion.

"And you're not just a normal kid. Tell me, Leon... Who are you- better question... What are you?" Hershell asked with a serious expression on his face. His right fist was clenched tight while his left hand held on his right fist in front of his face. Elbows on the table. "You might think that you're hiding it well. But I can feel it. I can even see it... The sinister aura on you."

By getting closer to Ax, he could see a thin layer of crimson aura that Ax was trying to hide.

Ax chuckles. "So, that's the reason why you wanted to meet me personally, not at the hospital. To know what am I."

Hershell was sweating out of fear. Though he came prepared, the aura Ax was emitting, slowly consuming his self-confidence. The fact that the one in front of him is powerful enough to destroy him any moment was totally undeniable. But middle age man could not back down. Considering all the sinister aura on Ax, highly chance that he would became a threat to others, to the country and might even to the whole world. Letting that kind of monster roaming free will surely increase the chance of disaster to occur. Therefore he keeps his posture straight and steeled up his will. Besides, he was not alone. He came with two other men like himself, a magician, who was waiting at the table beside the entrance. As long as a fight does not break out, they should be able to assassinate Ax easily. Or so they thought.

Ax takes a deep breath while holding in the funny feeling in his stomach. "Just forget it. You might know about it yourself one day." He rose from his seat with a cheeseburger on his right hand. "Ease up, young man. I'm not a psycho who kills for fun." The doctor receives some pats on his shoulder from him. "I won't block your number. So if you want something from me, just call or text me. Bye, doctor. For now at least." He said without looking back.

Casually, he walked towards the barrier, and destroyed it just by bumping into it. Sounds of people chattering could be heard again and Hershell was speechless. Once he reached the enterance, the other two were trying to get him but he throws a cold glare. "Don't try." A simple message he throws to them and they stopped.

Hershell hissed to the fact that the boy was just too powerful for them to kill.

Upon reaching home, smell of cooking hit his nose. And Lisa seems to coming out from the kithen and greets her son.

"How's your time with the others? Enjoying yourself?" A question was asked.

"Yeah. It went well."

"What about your meetig with the doctor?"

Listening to the question, Ax could not help himself but to grin. "That too, went pretty well."

Looking at her son suddenly grinning weirdly, a thought of him torturing the doctor came to her mind. "I don't know what you and him were discussing about, but I know that you did torture him in some way."

"What? How?"

"Better stop it. He's your doctor. You should be thankful and not torturing him." She went back to the kitchen to finish her cooking for the dinner.

Ax slowly climbs the stair in confusion and get into his bedroom.

"That's a surprise... But anyway." He locked the door and turned around. "The doctor have enough reason to be it." He muttered.

"But how to investigate him if I don't even have a clue to where he lives? And I also don't have the time to do an investigation." He was thinking out loud. "I'll think about it later. Too tired to think for now."

'It's been two days but I don't even know how to investigate him. I'm surely don't want to go through that hellish experience again.' Ax sighed.

He was currently on his way to his classroom. That was when another student approach him from behind and starts calling him by his name.

"Hey, Leon. The principal is looking for you. He's waiting at his office like a mafia boss."

Ax frowned in confusion. "Why?"

"Don't know, man. But you better be hurry. He seems uneasy about something." The student walks away soon after telling Leon about the summon from the principal.

Questions were taking forms in his head. He was sure that nor he nor Leon had done anything against the school's rules before. Nor anything that would be bring shame to school's name. Confusion was visible on his face. To be called out of the blue by the principal had made him wonder and surely wants to know the answer.

Without wasting anymore seconds, he took his step to the principal's office despite not knowing why. Knocking on the door as he arrived.

"Please, come in." A voice from inside the office invited him in.

Nervously, he turned the doorknob gently and opened the door. What he did not expect was another visitors besides him had already waiting inside with the principal. One of them was sitting on the couch while surfing through his phone, while the other one was standing in front of the principal as if he was questioning him. He closed the door and approached the the principal as his eyes observe the other visitors.

"Why have you called me, sir?" His voice unsure.

The principal, August Martin, jerked his head towards the two other men. "Student Leon Scarlet, they want to meet you. They're cops." His eyes were looking straight into Ax's. "What did you do, student...?" His voice had a slight disappointing and worried tone to it.

Ax turns his head around as he was looking at them. Seeing Noah rose from the seat and approaching him. A smirk shaped on his face. "I wonder~"

Robert showed his badge in front of Ax's face before talking. "Leon Scarlet, we need you to follow us to the station for some questioning. Please do cooperate." He said.

"Alright." Ax replied at once without even a hint of hesitation.

His instant reply surprised Noah. "Wow... That... Was easy..." He totally didn't expect it.

For being cautious, Noah took out a handcuff and lock both of Ax's wrists. And without resistant, the kid just being compliant to the ordrs given. That certainly raises suspicion from both cops.

As Noah was driving them to the station, Robert was left in wonder besides him. Most people would be worried and afraid if they were called by the police moreover arrested like this. But the kid is different. He looks calm, not even slightly worried. And he even smirking for no reason. It as if he is planning something sinister...

A file was slammed onto the table inside of the interrogation room. Ax winced in surprise for the sudden file drop. "This file right here, is about our recent mystery case. A murder and arson case." Robert said.

"Ooh~ That's cool."

Robert lifted an eyebrow. "There were six victims." He flips through the contents of the file. "Forensic says that their skull were cracked for most of them, broken bones, and they died before they were burned. Their bodies looks like they were burned for hours but witnesses said that they were burned within an hour before we arrived at the scene."

"That's weird... And also cool at the same time. So?" Ax was still keeping his poker face on without a slight crack.

Robert throws his gaze straight into Ax's eyes for seconds. Then back to the file "Witnesses said that the one who likely to did this was a teenage boy in school uniform with casted left hand. Last week, you're wearing a cast on your left hand due to your hand being broken, right?"

"Yup." Ax nodded confidently.

"Monday, about four p.m. to six p.m., have you been near the alley on the Sixteenth street?" Robert asked him with stern face.

"I do." And Ax answered him bluntly.

Robert got taken aback by the answer. 'That was certainly unexpected...' He was speechless for a moment.

Noah was laughing his arse off at the observation room, behind the one-way mirror after seeing Robert's reaction.

"In fact," Ax continue "I even went through the alley that time. And I even met with the victims that were killed."

Robert's eyes were again, filled with suspicion. "I've never tell you about victims identity. Are you trying to confess that you killed them brutally in the alley."

"Ooh, that last one rhymes nicely." Heshipered to himself. "Anyway, listen here, detective. I did told you that I met them. But I've never tall you that I killed them. Even if I did killed them, do you have a proof?"

His words had left Robert stuck on his own words.

"Let me take over." Noah's voice was heard through the speaker inside the interrogation room.

Robert stood up and walked out without argue. Next moment, the young detective entered the room casually. He took the seat in front of Ax. "Alright, boy. Let's start." He tapped the table lightly. "Let's say, that you did kill 'em. How do you burn the bodies in an hour, and made it looked like it was burned for hours long? Their meat were well cooked onside." He chuckles at his own joke. "Oh, and without any traceable substance at that."

Calmly, Ax gave a smile. "Whether to believe it or not, it's up to you." He paused for a moment. "I just burned them. Without using any substance. Just a swing of the back of my hand."

An eyebrow was raised. "Like magic?"

"Not really a magic. Magic needs magic power to fuel the magic. Call it superpower instead."

"You're expecting us to believe that? Seriously, we're not kids." Noah scoffed.

"If you keep staying inside the box, you'll get nowhere, detective... s. Coz there're more of you."

"That is dumb." No one would even believe if they have never seen it. "Anyway, why did you killed them?"

Ax replied with a shrug. Both eyebrows were raised, lips curled.

Noah stared at him for a moment with disbelief before releasing a sigh. "Why was the killer, killed them?" The question changed.

"They were the one who approached him with ill intention first. Intending to make a 'slave' out of him."

"I'll believe that. But boy, do you think after telling us all this, you can just walk out of here freely without receiving any punishment?"

"It doesn't matter whether you let me go or not. You can't contain me anyway."

"Heh, talk big for a small person like you." Noah scoffed. "You can't even escape the handcuff."

"Oh, really?"

Ax's response towards his statement had made Noah thinks twice about his own words. He frowned. But as his eyes wander to the handcuff on Ax's wrists, he noticed that the handcuff became slightly different than before. The colour's became pale as it was freezing.

The next moment, Ax pulled the handcuff apart, destroyed the chain that bound to both wrists. The chain's fragments were scattered around. Clanging noises of the scattered fragments were echoing throughout the room.

Everyone who were seeing it were baffled. They were stoned and speechless as if they got struck by lightning. They couldn't think of a word to react on it.

"Now, please let me go through. I wanna return home." He stood up.

Noah finally snapped back. He dared himself to stop the kid and ask one more question. "W-wait a moment... To just show off your power like this, don't you afraid that mad scientists will hunt you down just to do researches and experimenting on you?" A forced smile carved on his face. Trying to threaten the kid.

"Then let them try."

Suddenly, a heavy pressure was pressing everyone down throughout the police station. Everyone felt so heavy and those who were standing dropped on their four. Even breathing felt so difficult. Some people even fainted with mouth foaming.

"Let's see of they dare to do it. Send a battalion or something. I'll show them my wrath." Ax said with killing intent in his maroon eyes.

After a while, threatening with his killing intent, he lifted the intent off and at once, lifted the pressure. The air became light again. The situation came to normal again.

Noah was panting heavily in front of him.

"I won't do anything threatening to others if nobody mess with me. So please, detective. Don't mess with me anymore. And I'm out now."

As he was walking out of the room, passing by the front counter, the situation before him was chaotic. Many people fainted due to the pressure and blocking the way. The remaining policemen who were not down called for emergency. Civilians who were still up were still catching breath, confused and lost.
