[Next Day, Fedorov Family Estate]
The grand dining hall of the Fedorov estate was as Elsa had expected. It had tall windows, dark wood and there was an air of old money and power.
The long dining table was set meticulously and was gleaming with silverware and porcelain dishes which were arranged with precision.
But despite the grandeur, the atmosphere was anything but warm.
Seated at the head of the table was Viktor Fedorov, Desmond's grandfather. His sharp features were unreadable but his gaze was cold as it swept over Elsa.
"You must be Elsa," Viktor said, his tone devoid of any warmth. "So, this is what a Marino looks like up close." Keeping the history of the family rival in mind, Viktor did not attend the wedding.
Elsa's fingers tightened around the edge of the table but she forced a polite smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Fedorov."
Viktor didn't return the sentiment. Instead, he picked up his glass of water and took a slow sip dismissing her entirely.
