Chapter 4 - The Great Green Forest 4

She fell silent for a few seconds, her cold demeanor returning.

"I have a mission I need to fulfill."

Nawfi looked at her curiously.

"There's someone I must save at all costs… even if it means sacrificing everything." Her voice was firm, yet there was a sadness behind the words.

Nawfi felt a twinge of jealousy hearing her speak like that.

"Well… yeah… I have a mission too." He said, trying to face his bitter truth of his fate.

"You do?"

"Yeah… but I can't tell you… at least not right now."

"Don't worry. I won't ask again unless you decide to tell me." Her tone softened slightly.

"Anyway… Are those kids somehow related to you?" Nawfi asked, curious about their connection.

"No… I found them in the slums. Maria was separated from her older sister, and as for Leev, he comes from a noble family. Because of his low level, they exiled him. I took them in, and now we live in an orphanage in Adventure City." She spoke with a hint of sadness in her voice, but her eyes softened as she looked at Nawfi.

He listened carefully, his gaze focused on her as she spoke.

"If you want, you can come with us," she said, offering a small smile.

"Adventure City?" Nawfi repeated, his expression thoughtful. "I don't have anywhere to go anyway… okay, I'll go."

She nodded, her smile widening. But then her expression shifted, a trace of worry crossing her face.

"Anyway, something's been bugging me," she said, her voice tinged with curiosity .

Nawfi looked at her.

"What were you doing all alone in the middle of the Great Green Forest? You almost died back there because of me. Don't you know how dangerous that place is?"

"hmm…So, this place is named Great Green Forest." he was thinking again, "Okay then, Great Green Forest "

[Great Green Forest]

Info: The Great Green Forest is one of the five most dangerous places in the world. It is known for its towering green trees and the presence of wild, bloodless monsters. The forest is divided into three categories based on the level of danger.

Heartland: Known as the Deep Woods, it is the most dangerous zone filled with the most powerful and vicious monsters.

Middle Zone: A moderately dangerous area, teeming with various threats and challenges.

Border Zone: The least dangerous zone, where weaker monsters and safer paths can be found. ]

Freya looked at him with curiosity, her eyes meeting his.

"If it's personal, then you don't have to say."

"Don't worry about it." He said, trying to brush off the tension. "I don't mind telling you."

"Although, even if I tell you, you might not believe me."

"No… I will believe you. Let me hear it first." She urged, her voice sincere.

"The thing is…" He hesitated for a moment. "Somehow, I lost my memory and found myself here when I woke up."

"Oh… I see." She nodded in understanding. "It's normal here… Don't be concerned about it."

"Why?" He furrowed his brow in confusion. "What do you mean by 'it's normal'?"

"That's because… it's Amnes Magic."

"Amnes Magic?"

"As I thought," she replied with a small sigh. "You don't know about it."

He gave a confused smile, unsure of how to react.

"Well then, let me explain it to you." She said, her voice soft but clear. "The Demon Tree Apricot bears yellow fruits. If anyone eats one, they lose their memory, wander around the woods, and eventually die. If you're lucky enough, you might stumble upon an adventurer party, and if they help you, you can leave the forest alive."

"So… then… I got lucky." He smiled.

"Of course… you were lucky." She added, "Nah… you're more than lucky. If you were in the deep woods, you wouldn't be alive right now."

"Why is that?"

"You don't even know this?"

"Sorry, I can't remember it," he replied with a confused smile.

"Ah… forget it," she said. "In the deep woods, green pythons, grizzly bears, leopards, and wild dragons are roaring there. They're super strong, all above level 200. No one ever came out alive."

He was thinking that they seemed familiar to him, but he kept silent.

"There are also the forest lords. They're the most dangerous. They have unique names, titles, and skills. Some say they can talk like us… Well, the forest is unstable now because of the sudden disappearance of Forest Lord Apep, and other monsters like Orcs are invading the border of human territory. That's why we came here to investigate the case with a guild quest."

"That sounds terrible."

"Yeah… it is," she added. "And your memory loss was caused by Amnes Magic. I'm sure of it."

"Yeah…" He replied. "That might be the case."

"I thought he had some ulterior motive," she was thinking. "But I was wrong. He is a good person."
