Chapter 209 - A Strange Ride

Dom and his group soon arrived on the other side of the new and upgraded Shipyard. He had checked the stats as they walked and had been pleasantly surprised by the additional progress two of the ships had made.

[Shipyard of Riverside

Shipyard Grade - S

Shipyard Level - 2

Current Project -

Berth 1 - Trireme 50%

Berth 2 - Trireme 30%

Berth 3 - Trireme 0%

Current Schematics - Trireme.

Other Schematics - Early Merchant Sailing Ship - C, Bireme - C.

The Shipyard of Riverside is the start of Riverside's maritime accomplishments, allowing a place for vessels of different types to be constructed, either Merchant, Transport or Military. The more skilled the team of workers, the higher quality and faster that Ship's will be made. Shipyard can supplement nearby Dock's with additional Warehouse space if needed]

"So, are we going for the Red Snakes or the Dire Wolves?" Lucius asked as they appeared beside the Calm River, much closer to the forest now where some Lumberjacks were cutting down wood and placing the trunks on to carts that were then either pulled away by other Civilians or by some Oxen that had been spared by Lucius and the farmers. "I am assuming the Red Snakes as we are at the Waters edge?"

"They are now named Titanaconda." Dom replied happily, as he asked the system to spawn the Beast Hall.

[Spawning Beast Hall]

A Stables appeared on the waters edge, similar to that of the Sabre Tooth Tiger Beast Hall, similar to the Animal Husbandries with one large gate on the front and three enclosed walls surrounding it. The nearby Lumberjacks were surprised by the arrival of the new building, but soon continued with their work, occasionally looking back at Dom and his group of Gan Ning, Lucius, Subutai, Ou Yezi and their guards.

"Show Stats." Dom asked, making sure their were no differences from the other Beast Hall.

"Please confirm what Beasts we can select." Dom asked, excited to see the updated list that would now include the Dire Wolves and the full information on the Titanaconda, rather than it's previous name as a Red Snake. He wondered what would have happened if he had chosen the Red Snake in the past rather than the Sabre Tooth Tigers.

[Riverside currently has 6 Beasts that can be placed within the Beast Hall. Please select from the below]

[Hyena

Sun Bear

Lynx

Sabre Tooth Tiger

Dire Wolves

Red Titanaconda]

"Please use the Red Titanaconda." Dom asked.

Suddenly the Beast Hall changed in shape, as a large circular section appeared at the rear in the water, cutting off a small amount of water from the River and enclosing it as part of the Beast Hall. The sudden change caused a small wave to spread down the River again and Dom knew that there would be some frustrated people. He sheepishly looked towards the new Shipyard and was relieved when no one left and headed in his direction.

Gan Ning headed towards the door of the Beast Hall and peeped inside, before taking a step back and his normally smiley face had gone pale. Lucius looked at Gan Ning's face and also peeked inside, before also stepping back with a pale face.

"Are you ok?" Subutai asked them both.

"They are bigger than I expected." Gan Ning replied honestly.

Dom walked forwards and opened the door, inside the large warehouse were two extremely large red Snakes that looked confused at their location and company. They were both over forty feet long and around four feet wide. Their heads were around three feet wide but only around two and a half feet high. Their main colour was a block of blood red with slightly lighter red stripes on their skin. Their fangs were long and sharp, easily able to tear in to their prey, what ever that may be.

"The Sabre Tooth Tigers were pleasant after arriving." Subutai stated from behind Dom, giving him a gentle nudge in the back, not fully confident himself. "I am sure these are as well."

"I will go." A voice from behind Dom said, Dom turned and saw that it was Hector the Hoplite. Hector was one of the first Hoplite to have arrived in Riverside and had lost his prized family shield in the first excursion to the wild Brown Bear in the Silver Forest.

Hector walked past Dom and headed towards the towering Snakes that raised their bodies at his arrival, easily dwarfing the strong Hoplite as he walked in. He put his hand out in front of him and gently calmed them by making a soothing tone with his voice. They both hissed at him, before the frontal one that was slightly smaller than the second, lowered it's head towards him.

Hector stared at the giant Snake which drew it's giant head towards him. It's eyes and nostrils were on the top of it's head, allowing it a better view when hunting from it's natural habitat in the water. He continued to make the gentle noise before reaching out with his hand and stroking the side of the Snakes face. The Snake seemed to relax upon his touch, it's eyes relaxing as it pushed it's head against Hector's arms.

"He does love his snakes." Gregorios commented from behind, reminding Dom that Hector's shield had a Medusa face on it, before it was damaged. Dom looked at Gregorios and noticed that his loyal guard, that should be in front of him, was also hiding behind him, as were all of his Heroes.

Dom decided he wouldn't hide behind them himself, and walked inside towards Hector and the second Titanaconda, which lowered itself down and slithered towards Dom, it's giant body seeming to never end. Dom looked behind it and saw that there was a large gate that would open up to the water area behind it. The Titanaconda brought it's large head that once opened could easily swallow a full man, to Dom's face and seemed to take a deep breath to inhale his scent.

The two of them stared at each other for a couple of seconds, before the Titanaconda turned away from him, slowly moving beside him and pushing a thick part of it's back that was around a quarter of the way down it's body towards Dom. Dom looked at it confused, before stroking the Titanaconda on it's spine. He suddenly had a wild idea and decided to climb on to it's back, seeing how Hector in the distance was doing something similar to the one he was interacting with.

The Titanaconda seemed happy with Dom's presence on it's back, and suddenly thrusted forwards towards the gates where Gan Ning, Lucius, Subutai, Ou Yezi and the remaining Guards stood. They quickly ran to the sides as the Titanaconda sped through, it's body slithering side to side and incredible speed. Dom wrapped his arms around as much as he could and tried to hold on as tight as possible. The Titanaconda seemed excited at the freedom it had gained and turned towards the Calm River, where it quickly headed. Dom lifted his head up and noticed it's direction.

"Calm!" Dom ordered, not wanting to get wet or drown on the back of the giant snake. He was surprised when it listened and came to a stop on the waters edge, it's tongue slithering out and tasting the air above the calm water of the River.

"Come!" Dom ordered, before leaning to the side and trying to direct it back towards the Beast Hall. He was grateful that it seemed to understand his intentions and headed back to where it came from, those who were waiting made space for the Titanaconda to head back inside. He wished he could spend longer trying to ride it, but that would have to wait until another day.

Dom could see that Hector was on the back of the other Titanaconda and had opened the back gates, where it seemed content to relax in the water as he lay on it's back. Dom's came to a stop as it entered and Dom climbed off it's back, it looked at him with a blank gaze, before heading towards the water at the back of the Beast Hall itself.

"I can do it." Dom heard Ou Yezi say to Subutai, excitement in his voice.

"I will speak with the Lord on numbers, but we have a new Blacksmiths that we can use to concentrate on the different constructions." Subutai replied, also with excitement in his voice.

"I will speak with my Apprentice and see if we can recruit more from the new Tongpai Residents." Ou Yezi explained, "Coming here is the best thing I have ever done, and I haven't made any special swords yet!"

Dom headed towards the group, whilst looking back at the Two huge Titanaconda's that sat in the small water area at the back of their Beast Hall, Hector currently throwing large fish to them both from a food trough that lay inside.

"That was impressive." Lucius stated as Dom arrived back with them, "Why did you decide to ride it?"

"It seemed to want me to." Dom replied, "It seemed more intelligent than I was expecting, almost understanding my intentions."

"That will definitely come in handy then if we are to make them in to a water mount." Gan Ning agreed, "I can't believe my little snakes could grow that large! I'll have to get them brought here so that they can grow up in the right environment."

"Last time they were moved here automatically." Lucius stated, questioning why things happened differently.

"Ou Yezi has said he can build the armour we spoke about, he will work on some concepts." Subutai explained as he and Ou Yezi finished speaking. "I think it is best we work with the Hoplite and Spartans to create an elite unit here, similar to that of the Sabre Tooth Tiger riders from the Forbidden Guard."

"I would agree, we just need to design a suitable weapon for them." Lucius explained.

"Maybe a Trident like the front of the Enyo?" Ou Yezi explained, "A weapon made for fishing and the water."

"I will leave that to you to arrange." Dom said to Gan Ning and Ou Yezi, before checking the Beast Halls stats now that the Titanaconda had spawned.

[Titanaconda Hall of Riverside

The Beast Hall is for none standard creatures that can be tamed and trained, domesticating something that wouldn't normally be domesticated. Dom was surprised by the fact that he would only get one new Titanaconda every two days, but understood that this was a much more complex creature in comparison to the Sabre Tooth Tigers.

"System, is there a way to increase the spawn rate?" Dom asked.

[Through the usual upgrading of the Beast Hall, however the Titanaconda is a rare creature that was previously unknown, there are no guarantees that an upgrade will improve spawn rate]

"What would the upgrade do then?" Dom questioned, wondering why the System was unaware.

[Increase the maximum amount of Titanaconda's that can be housed within the Beast Hall by increasing it's size and capacity, as well as improving the quality of the Beast Hall so that the animals inside can be better trained and recover faster]

Dom wasn't aware of any caps to the amount of creatures that could be housed within a Beast Hall, but it did make sense as his overflow of Warriors were based in Barracks, rather than the Warriors Halls.

"Is there a cap on the Sabre Tooth Tigers as well?" Dom asked, having not thought about this in the past.

[There is a cap to all buildings, capacity can be increased by upgrading the Beast Halls, Stables and other relevant buildings through Wooden Tokens, Schematics or manual upgrades.]

"Another thing to add to the list then." Dom replied, worried that there would be a cap to the amount of horses that could be stored as well, with both the Horse Archer Warriors Hall and Red Hare Horses bringing them in to Riverside. He hoped that by building additional stables through schematics that were just used to house animals rather than spawn them, that they could increase the capacity.
