Dom awoke in his bed feeling exhausted and sweaty. He quickly took his headset off and headed to the bathroom for a shower. Today was the last day he would spend at the Academy as he would be collected shortly for his trip to the Isles of Britainy.
After his shower he packed his final items away, reluctantly including his headset, before heading to the quiet seating area. Now alone as his friends had all travelled home or on to their next destination. He lay back and looked at the ceiling for a few minutes, trying to think back at all of the key memories from his time here.
His first day had been difficult, having lost his mother and his homeland, with no where to go he was sent to the Academy, rather than being at the College in Riverside that he had always intended to go to as he grew up. A College from a town that no longer existed. He remembered being allocated his room and walking head first in to the chest of the skinny Andrew that opened the door to him. The two of them had laughed at it and quickly built up a brother like bond over the years they spent together.
He thought back to when he first met Kai, Alice, Horacio, Claire and even Florence. The different people that he had met and had an impact on him throughout the years whilst he had studied here. As well as the different teachers and staff that had helped push his strengths and close down any weaknesses.
Whilst waiting for his collection to begin his travels, he decided to check on Golden Sun's blog and see if anything interesting had happened in the last couple of days. He felt that this would be his only connection to the game for the next week and he was already starting to miss the characters inside it.
[GoldenSun VI here with my daily blog on World Conquest Online,
Firstly, as always a huge thank you to all of my readers and subscribers! We are more than hitting it big time, with my blog now being the number one World Conquest Online blog! So once again, thank you!
Today I have some usual updates from players across the globe of World Conquest Online, however I also have some exciting announcements that I have pulled together with some of my fellow players from the information that has been provided to us!
So let's begin today with an update from one of our top Lord Class players, CityBuilder. Lord CityBuilder, which doesn't really have the same ring to it as some of the other names, has been developing nicely in the south west of the Northern Continent. He has been very forthcoming with his City information, as his aim is to play the game more as a building simulator.
I asked him about the types of buildings he had and the types of people that had spawned in his city. His response was interesting.
"I started the game with an A grade Town Centre, this was due to performing well in the tutorial mission that was given to me. I had to protect a small village from bandits, and having played many point defence games before, I was able to come up with a plan rather swiftly.
The Town Centre I received was interestingly built from the same wood as the local forest, and in an architecture style similar to that of the ancient Chinese. I am sure if you speak with Prince Li Shang or Dong Cheng that they could give you a better description than myself, and I don't want to cause insult to them.
I also received some Houses, a Granary, a Heroes Hall, a Warriors Hall and through our growth we also have a large number of other buildings. I'll try to explain what a lot of them do, but some of the others I have are a Lumber Camp, a mine, another Warriors Hall, a Medical Centre, Fire Station, Civil Enforcement Station, an Animal Husbandry with lots of sheep.
I have approached the game as I would many other City Building games, and I feel that the Game acknowledged that when I received the Medical Centre, Fire Station and Enforcement Station from Green Building Spawn Cubes which I earnt through quests.
The Heroes Hall grants me a new Hero of any grade up to grade A once every three in game weeks. You can also spawn Heroes through Orange Cubes which can be earnt through quests. As I am primarily playing a city building game, my Heroes have been mainly Domestic so far, but frustratingly I haven't received an A grade one yet. Their knowledge however has been fantastic and they have been helpful in managing the day to day, as well as showing me things that I hadn't thought of before.
Military wise, my two Warriors Halls have both been quite exceptional. I have received Roman Legionaries from the Legio XVIII, the Eighteenth Legion Legionaries have been a great asset, helping me build a road structure and helping with the construction of my town. We have a basic defensive wall now, which has come in handy against a local barbarian tribe I have had to constantly tackle since day one. The other Warriors Hall is not as exciting as the Legionaries, but has been as useful. The second unit is from an older period and they are my Phoenician Scouts. They are excellent Fishermen and Hunters and have helped bring in a lot of additional food from the nearby river, as well as scout out enemy locations and support the Legionaries in the defence.
I obviously won't share my army numbers with you, but with them and my mixed civilian population, we are growing at a good pace in the wild. Obviously not as good as the top five Lord Class Players or I wouldn't be fifth."
It was great for CityBuilder to share that information with us, and give us a slight insight in to the world of the top Lord Class Players. I do wonder what the Cities of PhoenixSlayer, Thorin the 3rd, VladInvader96, Prince Dong Cheng and Lazarus will look like. Hopefully one of them will join us next time?]
As Dom read about CityBuilder, he felt that the game had also followed his needs when he had been spawning buildings, however unlike CityBuilder who had received a Fire Station and something similar to an ancient Police Station, Dom had gone down the route of strengthening his naval presence. He hadn't seen a need for something like a Fire Station yet, but would speak with Crassus when he logged in again at a later date as most of the buildings in Riverside were made from wood and Tongpai Town had burnt down easily.
He was also surprised to see that CityBuilder had received a Roman Legion like himself, both from a similar era between the end of the Republic and the beginning of the Imperial stage. He expected other top players would be in a similar position, but he felt like some of his advantage had been lost. Especially when other than the Ninth Legion that Dom had, the other two he was aware of hadn't been overly successful. Dom did hope he could gather more Legions, before other players received them, realising that variety was good as long as it didn't strengthen his opponents.
The Phoenician Scouts didn't impact Dom, however he wondered if CityBuilder realised that he had a strong starting Naval unit here if he ever built up a naval force. Dom's Phoenician sailors that had arrived with the three Bireme when Crassus brought them, had been instrumental so far in to getting Dom's navy off the land.
[The first update from CityBuilder was interesting, however my next one is from a different tone completely, this time from TsunamiMami a Warrior Class Player who has spawned in the centre of the continent. Initially he was playing as a bandit type player, with a group of other players and NPC's from the town they had spawned in. The Town was on a small Lake and they decided to set up a mini fort to the north of the River that joined with the Lake.
One day, whilst exploring they came to a marsh like area that was thick with fog. Slightly worried for his own safety, the group decided to retreat. However, they were all knocked unconscious by an unknown source and dragged to a large fort. It turns out that this Marsh had only just appeared in World Conquest Online, and at the centre of it was a large mountain. At the top of the mountain was a group of bandits called the Langshan Heroes, led by an honourable leader called Song Jiang. Now, I have done some research and discovered that Song Jiang and the Langshan Heroes are real bandits from History, however his group is supposed to have one hundred and eight Heroes, and only has around sixty currently.
Is this the game giving Players the opportunity to join this mighty Bandit force, or does it mean that the Heroes have been taken by other Lord Class Players or Killed by Warrior Players? Either way, TsunamiMami and his bandits have joined the Marsh, with hopes of filling some of those posts themselves.]
"Song Jiang?" Dom exclaimed, thinking back to the small bandit army he defeated during the Halberd Twins quest. If this was the same Song Jiang, then some of those one hundred and eight now worked for him. Huang Xin, Qin Ming, Hua Rong, Lu Fang and Guo Sheng were all historically part of that number. He thought to himself that was it due to him completing that special quest that Liangshan spawned in World Conquest Online. It meant that there was a good opportunity that other Liangshan Heroes had spawned to other Lords or were waiting to spawn. He decided to speak with Hua Rong when he returned on who some of the other Heroes were.
As he began to read again, another thought suddenly hit him. If Liangshan was now in World Conquest Online, what about King Rameses II and his force. If Rameses appeared, that could be either an opportunity or a disaster for Dom and Riverside. The calculating Pharoah had a large army and a marriage connection to Riverside.
"Definitely not." Dom said to himself, pushing the thought out of his head as this couldn't be possible and it was all just a random connection in his head for now. He was going to speak with Meritamen and then decided against it. These Liangshan Bandits could have no relation to the ones he had, otherwise every time a player did a Special Quest it would have an impact on the World Conquest Online map, he couldn't imagine parts of the Xun Family quest appearing on the map.
[Our next one is from Wucksense, who I think has shared the most exciting development of them all. We have already found or heard of several historical cities that have appeared across World Conquest Online from a multitude of commenters, a lot being used as starter cities for most players who spawn in. Across the game so far we have heard about: Carthage, Nineveh, Capua, Varanasi, Londonium, Seleucia, Tylis, Thebes, Hefei, Chang'an, Taipei and even Alesia. Plus the many others.
All different cities from different times of history, which we suspect doesn't mean we can't find them again from a slightly different era or on Special Missions that some Players have also mentioned. Earlier CityBuilder mentioned that he had one of the Roman Legions in his control, well Wucksense has an even more exciting announcement, he's joined a Roman Legion!
That is correct, he has joined a Roman Legion and in fact he hasn't just joined any Roman Legion, he's joined one in Rome! Rome is on the eastern side of the northern continent, however unlike the Rome in History they have spawned on a large inland lake that is almost the size of the Mediterranean sea. So anyone travelling from the top of the north continent to the bottom of the north continent, on the east by boat will be able to travel via Rome via one of the long rivers that enters in land.
This Rome is led by Emperor Caligula, who is known for his, well he's not known for anything good. Supposedly he is furious at the lack of any of his Legions being available to him, other than the Urban Cohort and a portion of the Praetorian Guard. So he has decided to build new Legions that will serve him and only him. Wucksense has already been made an Optio and is currently managing raids against nearby Villagers for resources. So this is one to keep an eye on.]
Dom was intrigued by this, the distance was probably great but he wondered what would happen is Caligula discovered the locations of the Roman Legions that were in the game, and how his new founded Legions would perform against them. Dom and Andrew had always joked about how they wished to have been Roman Legionaries together, and now some players were getting the chance.
