The evening air was crisp as Arthur made his way back to Celestial Brews. The familiar streets of Kuoh were quiet, the town's rhythm beginning to settle as the day turned to dusk.
He enjoyed these moments of solitude, free from the theatrics of the underworld or the politics of Nazarick. But his peaceful walk was interrupted by an unexpected sight—a blonde girl sprawled face-first on the pavement.
Arthur's first instinct was to glance around for any onlookers, but the street was empty. The girl's position, unfortunately, revealed more than she might have wanted: her white underwear stood out starkly beneath her short skirt.
He sighed. His 'good' nature kicked in instantly.
As he reached down to assist her, the girl raised her head, her green eyes filled with embarrassment and panic. She spoke in rapid Italian, her words tumbling out as she tried to express her gratitude. "Grazie mille, grazie mille!" she said, bowing repeatedly even as Arthur helped her to her feet.
"Non c'è problema," Arthur replied smoothly in Italian, waving off her frantic thanks. He gently stopped her from bowing further, offering a reassuring smile.
As she composed herself, Arthur took a moment to study the girl. Her long blonde hair shimmered in the dim light, and her green eyes sparkled with a mixture of innocence and relief.
She wore a teal nun's habit accented with light blue and white, a silver cross hanging from her neck. Her attire marked her as someone connected to the church.
It was none other than Asia Argento.
Arthur's expression softened as he recalled her story. The Holy Priestess, blessed with a miraculous ability to heal, yet cast out and betrayed by those she trusted. She had healed a devil—a sin that had marked her as a witch in the eyes of the church. Now she wandered alone, relying on fallen angels to survive.
Asia's gaze shifted to Arthur, her surprise giving way to a shy smile. "You understand me?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly.
Arthur nodded. "Yes, I understand you," he replied. "You're new here, aren't you?"
Relief washed over her face. "I just arrived," she admitted. "I was trying to find the church, but I got lost. Can you help me?"
Arthur tilted his head thoughtfully. "The church, huh?" he echoed.
Asia bowed her head again. "Please, I need to go there!"
Arthur offered her a reassuring smile. "Alright. I'll take you there."
Her eyes lit up with gratitude. "Thank you so much! Oh, I'm sorry—I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Asia Argento. I just came from Italy."
"Arthur," he replied simply, gesturing for her to follow him.
As they walked, Asia chattered nervously, occasionally glancing at him with curiosity. "Do you live here, Arthur-san?" she asked, her voice timid but warm.
"I do," Arthur said. "I moved here some time ago."
Asia nodded, seeming to find comfort in his calm demeanor. Her natural shyness made their walk mostly quiet, but Arthur didn't mind. He found her innocent energy oddly refreshing.
Often times, his companion was Semen sucking succubus's, hip-breaking goth, or other similar types, so guiding an innocent one is something Arthur didn't hate.
When they reached a four-way intersection, the traffic light was still red. Arthur paused, waiting for the signal to change, but Asia stepped forward without hesitation.
"Wait," Arthur said, catching her arm gently. "You need to wait for the light to change. It's dangerous to cross otherwise."
"Oh! I'm so sorry," Asia stammered, stepping back.
Before Arthur could reassure her, a familiar voice called out.
"Arthur! What are you doing here?"
Arthur turned to see Issei Hyoudou approaching on his bicycle, his usual goofy grin plastered across his face.
"I'm just taking a stroll with a new friend," Arthur replied casually, gesturing toward Asia.
Issei's eyes flicked to Asia, and his grin widened. "I see. Another chick, huh?" he teased, his tone laced with mischief.
Arthur sighed, but before he could respond, Issei leaned toward Asia with a smirk. "Hi there! I'm Issei Hyoudou."
Arthur rolled his eyes. "Issei, don't you have something better to do? Or do you wish to see some 'dream' tonight?"
"I am going. Don't let me interrupt your little date," he said with a wave, pedaling away with a grim look.
Asia blinked, her face turning a bright shade of red as Issei's words sank in. "D-Date?" she stammered, her voice barely audible.
As he disappeared, Asia turned to Arthur, her cheeks still flushed. "Is he your friend?" she asked hesitantly.
Arthur nodded. "Unfortunately."
Her giggle broke the tension, and the two continued toward the church. Along the way, Asia opened up about her life in Italy and her journey to Kuoh. Her stories painted a picture of a sheltered but kind-hearted girl who had endured more hardship than she deserved.
When they finally arrived at the church, Asia turned to Arthur, her eyes brimming with gratitude. "Thank you so much for helping me, Arthur-san," she said earnestly.
Arthur smiled. "It was no trouble. If you ever need help again, don't hesitate to ask."
Asia hesitated for a moment before stepping forward, her hands clasped tightly in front of her. "I... I hope we meet again," she said softly.
Arthur watched as she disappeared into the church, his expression thoughtful.
Friday's voice broke through his reverie. [Sir, while I understand your inclination to assist damsels in distress, may I remind you that interacting with Asia Argento could complicate our plans?]
Arthur smirked. "You're always so practical, Friday."
[Someone has to be, Sir.]
Arthur chuckled, shaking his head. "She's just a girl in need of a little kindness. I'm not plotting anything."
[Not yet, Sir. But given your track record, I expect that to change soon.]
Arthur sighed. "You're relentless."
[And you are predictable.]
With a faint smile, Arthur turned and began his walk home, the faint glow of the church's stained-glass windows fading into the distance.
