Surrounded by pillows and comfort the dragon looked to her side seeing one of her maids looking over her.
"For you, my Queen."
The maid handed over a list of cities the King had ordered them to check. Amongst the names of the cities.
Isadora's eyes landed on one particular city she was familiar with.
Dragonspine
Population: 15 000
Mission: Check the soul of every woman.
Her hands dropped the list as they were unable to hold it anymore. Then the memories struck her. All of it came back. She tossed away the blankets and stormed out of her bedroom.
She ran down the corridor trying to find him. After some time she made it to the treatment room. Opening the door she saw a bunch of dragons trying to operate on him.
Even though a Dragon's regeneration factor is almost impervious it doesn't mean it is perfect. High-ranking dragons can survive decapitation and survive having over 60% of their body being destroyed.
But this grade of damage wouldn't regenerate back right away. There was internal damage, his organs had been poisoned with silver. His blood had metal particles floating around and his skin had been completely incinerated.
The surgeons told them no amount of self-regeneration could fix this. They told Isadora that he would be out of commission for a while.
As Isadora returned to her room, one of the officers called her out and gave her some information about the new decree.
"A total search of the entire world? I thought it would be only a few regions?"
"The King wanted to maximize the probability of finding the Queen."
Isadora sucked and sighed as she walked back.
"Why couldn't you have just listened…" She said melodramatically.
This new decree King Uryo issued out, is said to be an "investigation" but all the generals knew it would be a genocide of the human race.
Even though the dragon army was fully loyal to King Uryo. No one disobeyed the King, all dragons had pledged their lives to serving the king. The order to massacre the humans was something not all dragons desired, but it was the will of the King.
Standing in front of the window, Isadora watched as children played in the streets oblivious to the crimes their race had committed. Spilt blood was an unnecessary thing, for her life was a blessing that no one had the right to steal.
She never killed anyone, feasted on human flesh or spilt human blood. Therefore she was branded as the "Time Saint" by the other generals.
Though she was a pacifist, her powers were something the King could not overlook. So it became join the army or execution. She was given a brigade to command and was promoted to general rank after a few achievements.
But Wolte was special, he never joined the army. On top of the cliffs of Guilt, a younger version of Wolte vowed to always fight for her even if it cost his life.
He spent countless years training, feasting on human flesh, growing stronger to protect her. She realized it, without him she wouldn't have become a general. The title of general meant nothing to her, nor did the title of Time Monarch mean anything.
She just wants everyone to live peacefully without any bloodshed. But deep down she knew it wasn't an available option. The King's order was absolute. She steeled her gaze and calmed her mind. There was one way to complete her mission without bloodshed.
Later that night she got a visit from the transportation general and research general.
"Hayo! Ursei and Glei incoming!"
Isadora greeted Glei whilst Ursei was rolling around in her bed.
"Time monarch, I request some inquiries about the entity you faced yesterday."
They strolled down towards the research hub where Glei told Ursei to stay put or else no more lap time for him.
The little boy pouted and crossed his arm standing patiently near the research room.
"So what I wanted to ask about… is this."
She raised a bag before pouring out the contents onto a table. In there were shattered pieces of silver.
"This was found lodged inside Wolte's body. According to the research team, this is no ordinary piece of silver because if I touch it even for a second…"
She placed her finger near the silver piece.
"My finger instantly turns into silver…"
She cuts off her finger and regenerates it.
"What is more fascinating is that after a period…"
She lifted her finger with tweezers and after a few seconds, it shattered into hundreds of shards.
Isadora hesitated to tell them about the Silver Saint. But after some persuasion from the scientists Isadora finally spilled the beans and told them about the Silver Saint.
"WHAAAAT?! A human that can run at the same speed as Wolte for days?"
They wrote down the story she told them.
"An individual that is capable of moving in stopped flow of time, superhuman capabilities, complete counter to dragons by freezing the loxes in their blood."
"Perhaps we could ask the other Monarchs to deal with him?" Glei pondered.
"Which Monarch now?" A dark voice spoke out behind Isadora.
Looking behind her stood a man with a cold glare. Tall, muscular, wearing a thick brown leather jacket. He wore a grey ushanka and wore a bunch of jewelry around his neck. His short spiky hair was white as snow.
"This seems like an interesting conservation, you guys are having," he said crossing his arms and leaning against the door.
The head of research general shooed him away telling him not to put his nose in all affairs concerning Isadora.
With one hand pinning Isadora against the wall he stared into her eyes.
"This time I'm actually interested. This Silver Saint you speak of, who would freeze first? Me or him?"
Isadora's eyes wandered off. He backed off and asked her the question again with a serious face.
"Him… So that's your answer."
He then wandered off.
"Jeez, that douce doesn't know how to treat women properly!" Glei complained.
"He is probably gonna go and fight that Silver Saint guy to test his strength."
"Fight?"
Isadora grabbed onto Glei's shoulders and told her that no matter what they shouldn't fight him head-on!
She ran immediately out to tell the hotheaded dragon not to engage with the Silver Saint.
Ursei seeing Isadora in such a hurry asked her what she was up to, she said she would go after the tall guy.
"He went that way!" He pointed.
Barely managing to catch up, Isadora stopped him before he could leave.
"Miss me this much?"
"You are going to die fighting him."
His face turned dark. Cletching his fists he exclaimed that no one ordered around Frost Monarch.
"Blood will be spilt on our frozen lands whether I fight him or not. But if there is something you ought to know… I always win."
Isadora's relationship with the other Monarchs was rocky. She wasn't on the best terms with most of them. There were those who she felt neutral towards, like for example the Frost Monarch.
But then some Monarchs despised her for her pacifist nature. The Monarchs never needed to work together anyway, each one had their own cohort which was already strong enough to subdue most human armies.
But because of the contract of Dexterity, the King was forced to withhold declaring casus belli. Given this time, over the past years, they have rearmed their empire, fostering a culture focused on strength and power.
Once, the city of Rhene was a prosperous city indulging in riches but then the great disaster struck. After the day which the grass turned red, the King scavenged for knowledge across the world. Initiating research facilities and hiring advanced scientists from across the globe with one goal in mind.
The resurrection of the dead.
