CHAPTER 147: UNTITLED

James bent her gently toward the sofa seat of the car and kissed her; slow at first, then deeper, more urgent, like he was starved for her. He couldn't get enough of her lips.

As their kiss intensified, his fingers found the buttons of her shirt. He tried to be gentle, knowing she still had work, but the way the buttons resisted made it hard. By the time her shirt came undone, the buttons were a tangled mess.

Slipping his hand into the small space he'd created, he cupped her breast over the lace of her bra, feeling the way her nipple strained beneath the black fabric.

Diana moaned into his mouth, her breath hitching. James slid her bra aside, freeing one breast, and brought his mouth down.

She gasped when his lips made contact—warm, wet, possessive. He hummed as he took her in, sucking, licking, claiming. Her back arched as he devoured her like he didn't care if time stopped.

They were lost in their own universe...until the shrill ring of her phone snapped them back.

James groaned in frustration and looked at her, lips swollen, eyes dark. "Don't answer it," he growled, diving back to her neck.

Diana chuckled breathlessly, trying to focus. "Babe... please, help me with the phone—it's in my bag on the floor."

"No." His voice was quick, almost boyishly stubborn, his lips still trailing fire along her throat.

Diana: .......

She blinked, not expecting such firm resistance over a phone? "Please," she begged with a soft whimper, "I'm expecting an important call this morning... I'm begging you."

He grunted in protest but finally slipped his hand into her bag, fishing out the phone and handing it over without even looking at her.

Diana grabbed it quickly, answered in a breathy voice, said a few clipped words, then ended the call without hesitation.

The mood, having simmered down, left them both in a quiet daze. James helped her button up her shirt, his fingers brushing gently over her skin as he worked.

Diana stood up and caught sight of herself in the small mirror. Her eyes widened.

Her hair was a mess, her shirt rumpled beyond saving, and her face—her powder had smudged so badly it looked like she'd been wrestling.

She spun to James, wide-eyed in horror.

James blinked at her innocently and gave a helpless shrug.

"Here, let me help you reduce the damage," he said, reaching out to smooth her hair.

She slapped his hand away. "I think you've done enough."

James frowned as he watched her pull herself together. She looked only half as presentable as when she'd first entered the car.

Diana caught the long scowl stretching across his face and rolled her eyes, sliding to the far end of the seat with a dramatic sigh.

James, of course, wasn't having it.

He shifted over without a word, laid his head on her lap, and closed his eyes like he belonged there.

Diana blinked down at him, caught off guard.

"I thought you were pissed a few minutes ago?"

"Well," James murmured, eyes still closed, "I don't have time to stay pissed—not when I've only got a few hours left to spend with you."

Diana's lips curved into a soft smile. Her fingers found his hair, stroking through it gently, her nails making slow, soothing circles against his scalp.

And just like that, the world outside didn't matter for a while.

They arrived at the airport, Antonio driving them straight to James's private terminal. His jet stood tall and sleek, proud like the man himself.

Diana stared at the plane in quiet awe, then turned her gaze to her husband.

James caught the look on her face and smirked.

"What? Changing your mind already?"

Diana scoffed, rolling her eyes; classic defiance.

His smile deepened.

"Here," he said, spreading his arms wide.

She walked into them without hesitation, wrapping herself around him in a tight embrace.

"Will you be there for the first antenatal?" she asked quietly.

James pulled back slightly to meet her eyes. "It's this weekend, right?"

Diana nodded.

"I'll definitely be there," he promised.

"I'll be expecting you then."

She leaned in, gave him a soft, lingering kiss, and stepped back. "You should get going now."

James nodded. Without another word, he turned and climbed the stairs to the plane, Antonio following close behind.

Diana stepped further back, watching as the plane pulled up into the sky, taking a piece of her heart with it.

Just as she turned to return to her car, a woman about Antonio's age approached her with confidence.

"Good morning, ma'am. I'll be your new bodyguard from now on."

Diana blinked and nodded. "What's your name?"

"Beatrice, ma'am."

"Well, Beatrice, you can just call me Diana."

"No will do, ma'am."

Diana smiled slightly. "Very well then."

There was something sharp and composed about the woman. She was alert, serious, but not unfriendly.

Diana got into the car, and Beatrice took the front seat.

Matthew drove them straight to her company.

Throughout the day, Diana tried to stay focused on work, anything to distract her from how much she was already missing her husband.

That Tuesday dragged like hell! Slow, boring, and colorless. Anytime she tried to relax, her mind would drift straight to him. Was he missing her just as much?

The thought alone made her chest ache, so instead of dwelling, she buried herself in work.

By the time she finally got home later that evening, she was completely drained.

Grandma Suzanne, who had been waiting out front, rushed toward her the moment she stepped out of the car.

"Diana, are you okay?" Suzanne asked, her face full of concern.

"I'm fine, Ma," Diana replied with a small smile.

"Have you been waiting for me here, Grandma?"

"Yes, I have," Suzanne answered warmly, smiling sweetly.

Before Diana could say anything else, she gently interrupted, "Don't worry, you don't have to say anything now. Let's head inside."

She looped an arm around Diana and led her in. "I prepared a feast for you."

Diana chuckled softly, allowing herself to be ushered inside.

They shared a lovely dinner together. Afterward, Diana took the opportunity to talk about their trip the next day.

"I told James we'd be going to my parents' place—said you'd be coming along so you could get used to them, too. Our excuse is already set. Besides, we'll be safer there, and it'll help ease his mind."

"Okay, whatever you decide," Suzanne replied, clearly delighted.

Diana grinned and reached across the table to pinch her hand playfully.

Suzanne giggled, the sound warm and familiar, like comfort in human form.
