Chapter 40 - Chapter 39 – Then there were six (2)

Author's note:-

The "-*" signifies sudden change in a point of view. As a result of unconsciousness... Or usually signifying death of the prior character.

"I knew I saw him, Lithin, on that day," Drego says. "I remember the screams… pleading to save Nightrale."

"I'm sorry you went through tha-"

"-but it doesn't make sense," Drego interrupts Tyle. "Where did Lithin even run off to?"

"The Altar of Rahambose."

"That's a place?" Skyto asks.

"It's a comet, I heard."

"I… never heard."

"I know that place," Wyrom says. "I-it… has ghosts."

"Ghosts? That's ridiculous."

"I'm not… jo-joking. Though, they are more than their misinterpreted selves. They're still existant. They exist there."

"The last I heard of ghosts… they can extinguish all the magic and heat from a red dragon," Drego says.

"That's right," Wyrom says. "That being said… Rahambose is a red… that means…"

"Nothing… not much can beat him," Tyle says. "Rahambose have a lot of guts, and can make yours twist."

"Ghosts are parasites… they can't stay without feeding on heat. A-and… they can attain symbiosis, which has never been observed before. Fara's prophecy talks of one such being… a Ghast."

"But then…" Leo says. "What if Rahambose bonds with one? Wouldn't that be…"

"Leo, don't say that!" Hailo says.

"Well, it is unlikely," Tyle says. "Heartless and demons as they are… ghosts could never bond with Rahambose. Not when they can't even feed off of Rahambose. It would be a ridiculous idea of it being possible."

But as the others continued their theory and talks… I could only wonder… what really was happening in the castle at the moment?

***

As I wait in the dark chamber for a guest… he does finally show up, so I quickly slash my sword from behind him, and drops of blood - drip on the floor.

"Heard about a monster and all… didn't know you could bleed easy, maybe stay the freak-form," I taunt.

"Then why did you decide on fighting someone like that?" Lithin's voice shakes me.

No… this was wrong. Hate was supposed to be here.

I slash my sword again, and meet with his.

"Why in the world are you here?"

"I thought you had levelled up your perseverance. Still is unreliable, I see."

My sword breaks his sword, but veins form and bind my sword, right as it nears Lithin's body. The veins also succeed in putting together the two pieces of his sword.

"Before being Rahambose too… you were no match to me, my love," Lithin says, bringing his sword to my neck. "So, why'd I send my friend instead?"

I start laughing, even when being threatened by a sword. "Then… does that mean you know you can't win against Wise?"

Lithin tilts his head, getting annoyed by that. And I realise that it was really the end for Wise and-

A person enters my room, but I don't flinch. Sneaking up on me… Rahambose had made Lithin a coward, not powerful.

He goes right towards my bed… and without wanting anything to do with a monologue, he instils the sword he is holding -onto the bed.

I jump out my closet, and stab him with the spear in my hand. Without a word, his skin burns… and before he could scream: he falls to the bed, right besides his sword.

"Going straight to killing me… I didn't think you deserved my last words, brother," I say to the corpse.

"So clear of emotions," a voice makes me jump. "Is that what you dragons title to be wise? Thinking your own brother would kill you… at least he's better, even when you take him for a monster."

"Hate…" I say, facing towards the monster behind me. "What have you done to yourself?"

That day… Hate flew away, before we could witness his form. It was hideous… it wasn't a human, a Primevel, a dragon… not even a demon. But a demon would be the better distinction of what Hate was now.

A dragon on its two legs… wings with thorns, face with a set of horns, sharp teeth, claws, and a muscular body. The simple definition of any beast.

"At least I'm not the weak one here," Hate says and looks at the thing in my hand. "What, that's supposed to kill me? What a joke! I may not be what people could distinguish as the strongest or scariest but that little stick of a spea-"

Right as Hate tries to touch the handle of the spear: he gets thrown into the wall behind him, which he passes through while smashing it apart.

That was a fine concrete material for a wall.

I hear a person saying something… unclear. This person bends down to Hate, who was fallen at a distance, at the hallway… and then the person turns to me, scaring me.

"Who are you?" I ask to the woman in the darkest shade of purple clothes… she looks quite human but… something about her.

She doesn't say a word, and the spear in my hand etches into the closet I was in: leaving my hand. Right as she stands a couple feet from me, I stumble to the bed. She doesn't get any closer.

"That is quite a pain," Hate says, and appears behind the woman. "Now, shall we get to business?"

"Alright," I say, pushing the unknown corpse away. "Finish what you came here for, kill me."

Hate chuckles. "Oh, come on, Wise… you're wiser and smarter than that. You need to give me some points in those too."

"What, you want an apology for me killing this guy?"

"Oh well, I'm not even sure what his name was. But stop recalculating, Wise. You know what I mean, who did you choose? To end mine and Lithin's life…. The Rahambose-Killer, who is it?"

"Wow… that message did reach you. So much for the secrecy."

"I sent people to track you…"

"But they failed of course… I know many ways to lose a trail. I have people with me too."

"Oh well, not to boast of it really; but so do I. Not many sadly… but yeah, we have some people, though we hate the word team."

"Well… my Rahambose-Killer will make sure to end your little band then."

"Wow, yes, my band, they can enjoy ending you right now. But come on now, give us a clue about your 'Rahambose-Killer', where is the fun otherwise? And I'm curious of your whole plan to start with… I wouldn't want to live in suspense… while you die."

"You let Lithin become Rahambose… but forgot the part where I and he are one. I'm him… so we have same powers and I got the Rahambose part to myself too, when your plan worked out."

"Ah… there that is. Must say, my guess was almost right. Now… for the main course."

"Your clue… you want it so badly? The kid… he looks just like you. Not this you… but the one you tried hiding. You'll see it. Quite wonderful."

"Looks like me…?" Hate's eyes widen, and he backs away.

"Yes… your doom," I say, and sit up.

I find Hate's face right in front of me… and feel a ripping feeling in my chest. Something was stabbed into me…

"Don't make riddles and prophecies, Wise. They fail to amuse me," Hate scoffs.

I just fall back on the bed, while staring at Hate and that woman.

"He doesn't look dead. We shouldn't leave-"

-*

"-just yet. It would be a pain if he turns out to be alive," the woman's voice says.

I hold my hand tightly upon Stree's mouth. I know she's brave but… this was way too much of a risk.

"Ah, no-no… we can kill each other, of our kind. Fire kills fire. Rahambose can kill… another Rahambose."

I quickly scribble on the paper.

"You seem unfazed of what he said. Did you already know?"

"Just a guess… besides, that's a lie. Prophecies… are just hope for the weak. Something like this… is either a lie or a hopeful lie presented as the truth. Both of which are… nothing to us."

"Then… there is no such thing?"

"Oh Trinity, don't you worry. Don't you think it is dumb that you know the features of a person you saw ONCE? Also… an infant… how can you be sure of the features? All that shit people say to new parents is… you know, just a way of conversing."

"We never know though. So, how can you be sure?"

"Okay. Let's say it is true. A kid who could run would run away from a creep trying to make them the Rahambose-Killer. So an infant… so we'll just kill anything which looks like me. If it even survives to come to us."

"But we haven't seen you…"

There seems to be no reply.

Trinity continues, "then shall we go? This was boring. Lithin could be getting the fun started."

"You know," Hate says, and sits at the bed. "This one was weak but you and the others… Gust, Razor, Trapzedrun, Rainbow… I have high hopes that you can kill… you know, at least the pests and the lot."

"Pests?"

"You know…" Hate says, and I hold one of my hands against Stree's shoulder. "Like the ones spying here."

With one swoop I lift the bed and throw it towards Trinity, and also push Stree towards the window – out of here.

It was the fourth floor… but there were enough edges for Stree to be okay. It was better than-

I take a deep gasp…

But why… how. I had thrown the two away… was it one of those other five he mentioned?

I try not to… but end up looking at my own body. A clear cut of pu-

"Was that Agusth-?" me and Skyto jump from our beds.

The two of us run to the door, after Dad, Hailo, and the others seem to be awake too. I almost bash the door open, with all my strength.

My heart pounds in my chest, and my gut twists for me to look at a certain direction – when outside. I find Stree there.

I bring Stree's presence to Skyto's attention.

"She is in bruises," Skyto says.

She is… and she stumbles to walk towards here. So I let loose and run towards her, but… she falls, before I reach her.

My eyes sting… was that a violet aura which I just saw?

As I fall to the ground near Stree, and look at her… she has… a cut… one I hadn't seen just a while ago… a cut with a… violet glistening.

A laugh begs for my attention… and so I look ahead. Some lady, looking this way… laughing at this.

"Was it you?" I ask.

The lady looks at me, with her fading smile… and then behind her… and then at me again.

"Who el-? ARGH!!!" she screams up her lungs, holding her arm… missing a wrist.

But before I could do anything else, Skyto puts his hand on my back. The elongated black nails on my hand: fade away.

The lady looks at me, with teary eyes. "Black magic! BLACK MAGIC!"

"Leo! We need to… please!" Dad drags me.

I look down at Stree, with tears in my eyes. And I don't let her hand go.

Dad lifts Stree's… body… from the floor. The lady doesn't stop us, and continues crying in pain, while looking at me.

We run away from the room… the castle… from… Agusth. This way, her six friends abandon her.
