Su Jiyai stood calmly in the middle of the meeting room, hands behind her back.
"While conducting an investigation on some matters," she began, her voice clear and steady, "I came across some discs."
One of the base leaders—a chubby man with a crooked hat—snorted loudly and laughed.
"So what? We're talking about issues related to the weather. What does that have to do with some old disc?"
Another base leader, a woman with sharp red lipstick, rolled her eyes.
"Is this a science fair now? What's next, boss? You found a weather-changing fork too?"
People laughed again.
Admiral Ru raised an eyebrow and said with a small grin,
"Boss Su, maybe you should stay silent if you don't know what we're discussing. Leave the grown-up talk to us."
More laughter followed. A few people even slapped the table.
But Su Jiyai just smiled. She didn't look hurt or even embarrassed.
"What I'm going to say next might sound even more childish," she said calmly, "but I need you to listen."
