Charlotte and Dave stood frozen, their gazes locked with intense emotion. After a while, Charlotte broke their eye contact, overcome with emotion, and began silently sobbing, too embarrassed to meet his eyes.
"I shouldn't have come here. I thought I was completely over you," she said, still avoiding his gaze. The man she had loved for so long was finally expressing his feelings, but now she was already committed to someone else.
"I badly want you, Charlotte, and all I need is a go-ahead from you," Dave admitted, moving closer to her.
Taking a step back, Charlotte asked, "What do you mean?"
"Since that wedding day, I haven't been able to get you out of my mind. Then you suddenly appeared, and all my thoughts revolved around you once again. Dave spoke rapidly, making promises and asking for Charlotte's affection.
