As Quan Kunjie walked away, the tension in the air only thickened.
Xia Lihua slowly removed her hands from Yang Lingyun's mouth, glancing around to make sure no one was nearby. Satisfied that they were relatively alone, she glared at him, her frustration boiling over. "Our marriage is supposed to be private!" she hissed, her voice low but fierce. "Why are you bringing it up in front of just… anyone?"
Yang Lingyun's smile didn't falter. "Maybe because it's the only way to make you listen to me?"
Xia Lihua's frustration spiked, her hands balling into fists at her sides. "You think this is the way to get my attention? By throwing around private matters in public?"
His gaze softened ever so slightly. "If it means you'll finally take me seriously, then yes."
"You are impossible!"
Yang Lingyun's hand moved slowly, deliberately, as he reached out and placed it on Xia Lihua's bare shoulder, his touch feather-light yet unmistakably warm.
