"Thud, thud, thud..."
The carriage moved quickly, smoothly, and steadily, soon arriving at the castle.
"Bang, bang, bang!"
Freya stopped the carriage, knocked on the carriage door, and called out, "We've arrived at the castle, I'm going in."
Before Dahlia could respond, the wolf-eared woman opened the carriage door and, with a bewildered look from Dahlia, picked up Catherine effortlessly and started walking outside.
"Hey? What are you doing?" Dahlia stared at the swift and decisive beastkin, wondering how she seemed so proficient, as if she had done this many times before.
How could she not be proficient? When Freya was looking for Annie, as soon as she heard news about her, she would rush to the noble's house, pick up the fox girl, and run out. She didn't know how many times she had done that.
"Keep up if you want the illness treated. Don't drag it out." Freya said this as she strode forward with Catherine in her arms.
"Uh..." Dahlia got out of the carriage and chased after Freya, watching her ears and the tail swaying behind her.
The beastkin was so cold and indifferent, looking like a member of the dog tribe. Dahlia thought about many things in her mind. She had never seen a wolf tribe beastkin, only the dog tribe ones.
She observed the surroundings of the castle. The ground was free of unnecessary sand or stones, and compared to other noble houses, this place truly felt like a noble's home.
Moreover, the servants were all very polite, and the most important thing was that they all wore smiles, their faces showing respect and awe, rather than relying on brutal punishments to maintain their noble status and authority like other nobles did.
The difference between the two was stark. One came from the heart, and if the master encountered danger, these servants would risk their lives to protect them. The other would probably scatter at the first sign of danger.
"Thud, thud, thud..."
Freya was unaware of Dahlia's many thoughts. She hurriedly carried Catherine and quickly reached the back courtyard, entering a room and gently placing her on a soft bed, covering her with a blanket.
"You wait here for a moment, the master will be here soon." Freya said coldly to Dahlia before turning to leave, heading to call Lucas to come and treat the illness.
"Alright!" Dahlia responded, watching Freya leave. She let out a sigh of relief, then approached the bedside, gazing at Catherine, whose brows were furrowed.
"Catherine, hang in there, someone will come to save you soon," Dahlia said softly.
Not long after, Dahlia heard the sound of hurried footsteps and loud voices from outside.
"Thud, thud, thud..."
"We get to see the young master treat a patient again."
"Last time, it was the young master who healed Helen. I didn't expect another one today."
"..."
"Thud, thud, thud..."
Lucas stepped into the room, followed by Mina, Annie, Nicole, Freya, and Amelia.
Lucas looked at the young girl in front of him, offering a gentle smile. "I am Lucas, the lord of Sedona City."
"Ah?" Dahlia stared at Lucas, slightly stunned. She quickly spoke up, "My name is Dahlia. My friend is ill, her name is Catherine."
This was the first time Dahlia had seen someone like Lucas. With his black hair and black eyes, his appearance was exquisite. His attire and his unique, peaceful, and elegant aura drew attention, making him seem more like a prince than the princes she had seen in the royal palace.
"Let me take a look." Lucas raised an eyebrow. He had been talking to Amelia earlier, as the girl had cried over a classmate yesterday.
This morning, Amelia didn't want to go to school and said she had already mastered the written words but had completely forgotten about the math.
Lucas had just been halfway through persuading Amelia when he heard the report from a messenger sent by Aiden. A duke's daughter was ill and on her way to Sedona City. This surprised him. Why would the duke's daughter come to him? With curiosity, he had ordered a carriage to go pick her up.
Lucas came to the bedside, reaching out to touch Catherine's forehead. He then lifted her eyelid to observe her pupils. After comparing this with the data he had, he concluded it was a severe cold with a fever.
"How long has she been like this?" Lucas turned to ask.
"It started the day before yesterday, but it was only a little dizziness... She fainted last night."
Dahlia said urgently, "How is it? Can Catherine be treated? She can't be in any danger!"
"Fainting... It's a severe cold with a fever." Lucas said seriously. A fever that causes someone to faint is no small matter. If not treated properly, it could cause brain damage.
He took the first aid kit from Nicole, pulled out a thermometer, and, with everyone watching in confusion, Lucas swung the thermometer around until it showed around 35-36°C.
"Shove this end under Catherine's armpit and make her clamp down." Lucas handed the thermometer to Dahlia, he wanted to measure how much Catherine's fever was so he could decide on a treatment.
"Good!" Dahlia doesn't bother why, there is nothing more to do now, as long as it's not a bloodletting therapy, although clamping something under the armpit is a bit odd, but it's acceptable.
Dahlia pulled back Catherine's collar, revealing a patch of white skin, and half of a white peak, and followed it up by shoving the thermometer into her armpit.
"... "Lucas's face flooded with odd colors, just in time to see this scene. With his experience, the visual estimate is about the same size as Mina.
"Young master!" Annie beamed, looking at Lucas in an angry manner, she also glanced at Dahlia, didn't she see that there were men here? How dare you just rip off her friend's collar like that?
"Uh ..." Lucas helplessly touches his nose, this can't be blamed on him ah, on the side of Freya, Nicole's face are all odd colors.
"Young master, what is that thing for?" Mina softly relieves Lucas.
"The thermometer shows that our bodies have a safe temperature range. Once it exceeds that value, people will become ill and uncomfortable." Lucas briefly explained.
After hearing this, Dahlia felt it made sense, at least more convincing than those shamans, and indeed, Catherine's body temperature was quite high.
However, she remained skeptical about whether the person before her could really save someone who was supposed to die, especially with the palm-sized wound on the stomach. Wouldn't that be a guaranteed death?
After estimating the time, Lucas said, "Alright, take out the thermometer."
"Okay!" Dahlia pulled open Catherine's collar again, allowing Lucas to see heaven for a moment.
"Ahem..." Lucas cleared his throat, took the thermometer, and his expression turned serious. "Thirty-nine point seven degrees. This is already very dangerous. Plus, we've been delayed for quite a while. If this continues, she might end up with brain damage."
"Ah? What should we do?" Dahlia anxiously shouted.
"We'll have to give her an injection—an anti-fever shot," Lucas sighed, "A butt injection."
