After a few seconds of silence, the door slid open to reveal a hunched, hesitant Alaric busy fiddling with his fingers.
"Um, I... Um, good morning..."
Biting down on his lip, he looked like a child caught red-handed.
"Yes, good morning to young master Alaric who doesn't know he shouldn't eavesdrop on others' conversation."
The nobleman gasped, taken aback, "No! No, I didn't want to eavesdrop, Miss Rosalyn, I-I came here to check on Ian..."
"And then stood outside the door and listened to our conversation."
"That..." Alaric lowered his head even further. "I didn't mean to..."
His voice trailed off, eyes sifting between Ian and Rosalyn, cold sweat rolling down his cheek.
"I'm sorry. I won't bother you again."
Without waiting for a reply, he circled on his heels to run out.
"No no, wait young master, it's alright." Before he could go, Rosalyn got up, a pleased smile flashing across her face, "I'm almost done and was about to leave. Feel free to stay."
