They arrived at the hospital, and Louis was immediately taken into the ICU. Verena's heart was in her throat as she stood in front of the door, her hands gripping the handle, her mind spinning with fear and worry.
She could hear the distant voices of doctors and nurses, but it felt as though time had slowed down. Every minute felt like an hour.
Within minutes, the door opened, and Louis's grandparents, Rosie, and Aaron rushed in. When Aaron spotted her standing by the door, holding the door as if it will open next second, looking so lost, his face softened with concern.
"Sis!" he shouted, his voice laced with panic. He hurried over and gently took hold of her shoulders, turning her to face him.
