Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: The Reckoning

The Warehouse – Liyana's Captivity

The air inside the dimly lit warehouse was thick with the stench of metal and oil. Liyana's hands were tied behind the chair, but her posture remained poised, her expression unreadable. She refused to show an ounce of fear to Lin Hao, even though she could feel the faint ache in her wrists from the tight restraints.

Lin Hao paced leisurely in front of her, his expensive shoes clicking against the cold concrete.

"You're awfully calm," he mused, tilting his head. "Are you that confident in Damien? Or do you truly not understand the danger you're in?"

Liyana's lips curled into a smirk. "Oh, I understand it perfectly. But you should too."

Lin Hao chuckled, his fingers tracing the scar on his jaw. "I like your spirit. It's a shame you're on the wrong side."

Before she could respond, the sound of an approaching car rumbled from outside. The low hum of an engine coming to a stop sent a ripple of anticipation through the warehouse.

Lin Hao's grin widened.

"Right on time," he murmured, flicking a hand toward his men.

Two guards stationed near the entrance pulled out their weapons.

"Now, let's see how far Damien Lu is willing to go."

Outside the Warehouse – Damien's Arrival

The black Rolls-Royce Phantom came to a slow halt outside the abandoned warehouse. Damien stepped out with measured steps, exuding an aura of terrifying calm. His suit was pristine, his expression unreadable, but beneath his collected facade, he was a storm waiting to be unleashed.

Gao Wei had tried to stop him, but Damien had dismissed him with a single command: "Stay out of this."

Now, as he stood in the eerie silence of the night, his grip on his watch tightened. He wasn't here to negotiate.

One of Lin Hao's men stepped forward.

"Boss is expecting you," he sneered.

Damien didn't acknowledge him. His focus was solely on what lay beyond the warehouse doors.

Liyana.

He was done playing by the rules.

Inside – The Confrontation

The heavy metal doors groaned open, revealing Damien's towering frame. His dark eyes scanned the room, locking onto Liyana first—tied, but unharmed. A flicker of relief passed through him, but it was quickly replaced by a murderous edge when he turned to Lin Hao.

"Damien Lu," Lin Hao greeted, his tone mockingly pleasant. "What a pleasure."

Damien took slow, deliberate steps forward. "Let. Her. Go."

Lin Hao's smirk deepened. "Now, why would I do that? I went through all this trouble to invite you."

Damien's gaze darkened. His entire presence screamed lethal.

"You have three seconds," he stated coldly.

Lin Hao raised a brow. "Or what?"

The next second, Damien moved.

Before Lin Hao's men could react, Damien had already grabbed one of them by the wrist, twisting it sharply. The sickening snap of bone filled the air. A pained scream followed, but Damien was already on the next attacker, delivering a brutal strike to his jaw.

Lin Hao barely had time to signal his remaining guards before Damien sent a kick straight into one's ribs, sending him sprawling to the ground. The other lunged forward, but Damien dodged, grabbing the man's wrist and twisting his own gun against him.

A body collapsed.

Lin Hao's smirk finally faltered.

Liyana, watching from her chair, felt her heartbeat quicken. Damien wasn't just fighting. He was eliminating.

And he wasn't done.
