"Elly Campbell, what are you going to do?"
His eyes darkened, his expression visibly displeased.
"This old woman always speaks in a way that disgusts me. I don't want to continue listening to her filth. I'm afraid that if I keep watching her act, it'll make me lose my appetite and I won't be able to eat for days and nights."
Mrs. Thompson's face turned dark, and she bit back:
"Elly Campbell, I am your mother-in-law. Do you think this is the way to talk about your elders?"
"Sorry, but don't flatter yourself. You're nowhere near worthy of being my mother-in-law."
Elly Campbell crossed her arms in front of her chest, her eyebrows raised as she looked at Mrs. Thompson with undisguised scorn in her eyes.
Confident in Adam's unusual response at this moment, Mrs. Thompson wasn't afraid of Elly, smiling she said:
"Whether I am worthy or not isn't for you to decide. I am Adam's mother, and as long as you are Mrs. Jones, I am your mother-in-law."
