Chapter 35 - The Point of Subordinates

As I was pondering how I would dedicate my time to getting some more soul husks, and finish the quest I realized something. I have both a summonable army from my Trenchcoat, and a Time Keeper. I really didn't need to go on some time consuming quest where I try to find every Church of The Broken God territory. And so after getting a map from Jody of all known locations I used my Trenchcoats ability to summon an army.

(Soul Call Activated)

(They Heed And Swear Loyalty)

Luckily I had the sense to go to a very large field as by my estimations there was about 75,000 people.

(Cooldown: 13D 23H 59M 57S)

That was fine, but also begged the question do they just disapear when they come off cooldown? I didn't have to worry long though as the people infront of me took a knee, prostated, gave me a salute, held their arms up straight and shouted in reverance. The most interesting being "The Emperor Blesses!" Not because of their battlecry or whatever but their armour and equitment. It was very sophisticated, but the people here seemed ethereal almost like they weren't actually here.

And when I tried to touch one of them my hand went straight through them. Wondering if they were physically invunerable I lightly kicked a rock which landed of someones helmet in the masses making an audible Klink. I then grabbed another pebble and holding it tried to touch it against a soldier which then went theough them. I then had a nearby cultist come over and try to touch them.

They could

I then ordered them to try and take a soldiers gun that looked technically advanced for research.

They couldn't

I ordered one of the summoned people to tell me a fact about black holes that I didnmt know about. They talked about a theory that was from the 1980s that certainly wasn't right. After doing so they looked shocked and slapped themselves in the face yelling. "Don't listen to that it's all wrong."

Understanding that the universe was now fucking with me by denying me gaining technology centurys ahead I left it alone. Of course I was fucking seething mentally, but looked completely fine outwardly. Deciding to stop trying to become a galactic power not even 11 years after the moon landing I then proceeded to mald even further as that would've solved so many problems. Finally calming down I sent out a mental command for all officers or anyone of the same rank to proceed towards the front. About 15% of the people here started making their way to the front, and it was at this moment I realized I got a bunch of fucking irregulars.

At least 30% of the "officers" probably have never even seen anything more advanced then a longbow. Another 40% seemed to atleast have some experience with modern warfare. Unfortunately for me they were so advanced that when looking at a gun they audibly said. "Where's the ammo counter?" Now with only 30% of the current officers aware of "modern day" weapons and tactics. Of these people 10% of them looked like they had never had to actually give orders in combat. Luckily, and I say that liberally, the rest seemed competent, and believe it or not fairly good.

(Inquiry Detected: User will get the same people when resummoning. Including previously gained memories, but will have their bodys reformed)

That is just amazing. If I could bring my army to a standard it would solve many of my problems I would have. While thinking about this I decided to do something I haven't in a while I offloaded my responsibilitys onto someone else. And using my pocketwatch summoned a Time Keeper. I could feel they were weaker then they should be, probably because of me using the place it resides as a tool, and it having a fragmented soul. Upon coming out it stared at me.

Observing it I saw a face without feautures in a ragged cloak that slowly shifted in different shades of blue and purple. Its hands were pale, just like its face. The hands seemed thin, and faded like they had never used them in their life. They had seemingly no legs or torso, but their cloak shifted in shape as if they were there as they poorly mimicked a person.

"You are to organize these people in groups now suited for them. Afterwards I wish for you to review every groups strategys and incorporate parts that are benificial into, but not limited too multiple blended strategys for assaults, defence, large scale warefare, traps and space warfare." I informed

Shortly after I felt something trying to get through my mental shields. Detecting it to be the Timekeeper and detecting no ill intent I allowed it through and soon heard a raspy voice in my head. "It will be done my lord." As they and their cloak soon turned to mist and reformed not even 5 feet away from me to talk to the officer. I couldn't tell if they were showing off or had such a great work ethic that they couldn't waste a second.

As I let them do that I would go around and try something else to get my technology. I already had 0.001% of all knowledge which does help in atleast being able to identify parts and decipher what the components of the weapons do.

As I strolled around ordering some soldiers to hold out or allow me to examine their equitment I had learned a little bit about targetting systems. How to convert a bullet into an incendiary round without having it be in the bullet itself through an in wewpon built converter. And a somewhat more advanced version of steel which I dedicated most of my time to too increase my defenses through converting my coats matter. Although there was probably better things to research I wasn't too worried about it as I could summon them at any point.

After that little impromptu research session which unknowingly made the soldiers peg me as a commmander who liked all equitment well maintained at all times. I headed back to Site-19.
