Kusuo was confused, why did he agree to follow this Loid guy?
They had just left the gate of the orphanage and Kusuo wanted to go back, but thinking of Anya he decided to stay a bit longer.
'Well, I suppose it isn't that bad, after all, at least I won't have to eat that 'thing' as food…'
However, only a couple of seconds later, he regretted thinking that as he saw Anya's smirk. For some reason that smirk had a way of annoying people, it was like someone stealing his coffee pudding and eating it in front of him.
Just as he was about to trip Anya, Loid spoke.
"Listen up you two."
"Anya!"
"Okay, Anya and…"
Seeing Loid look at him, Kusuo realized that he never told the guy his name.
"Kusuo."
"I see, Anya and Kusuo. Listen carefully. Starting today you're my children, but to everyone else, you've always been my children got it?"
*nod*
"OUI!"
"And you should call me 'Father'."
"Papa"
"..."
Even though Kusuo's dad was a useless piece of waste that licked shoes for a living, calling someone else father was a bit hard for him.
"Well, we'll work on that." - Loid
Walking up the stairs, Kusuo noticed that the apartment building was quite nice, even better than some modern apartments.
"Oh my, You two are just so adorable!"
As they arrived at the top of the stairs, an old lady started to talk to them.
"Hello, we're the Forgers. We just moved in today."
*Nod*
"I'm Anya, and I've always been Papa's daughter!"
'Too much detail!'
Both Kusuo and Anya had strange responses, Kusuo simply nodded his head, while Anya was overly enthusiastic.
Looking at the old lady who was confused and Loid who was both visibly and mentally annoyed, Kusuo let out a slight smile. After all, Anya was quite funny.
"Come on, you two, let's head inside."
After nodding to the old lady, Loid took both of them inside.
"My house!?" - Anya
"That's right." - Loid
"TV!" - Anya
"You can turn it on if you like." - Loid
Unlike Anya, who ran into the house, Kusuo was looking around, not only was it rather bland, but it also made him feel uncomfortable.
Getting rid of other thoughts, he looked at Loid, who was contemplating whether the fact that Anya put on a spy show was a coincidence.
Kusuo didn't know how to feel about Loid; Loid had taken him away from that orphanage with terrible food. However, he also became his 'father,' which felt incredibly weird. After his father was still alive.
"I'm heading out now."
Loid's voice made Kusuo come back to reality.

For the first time today, Kusuo 'spoke'.
"Adventure!"
"It's not an adventure, I'm just going shopping!"
Seeing Anya grabbing Loid's leg and refusing to let go, Kusuo knew that Loid couldn't keep her here.
"Sigh, Kusuo, are you coming as well?"

"Come along then"
Kusuo felt that exploring the outside would be nice, after all, he didn't know where to get coffee pudding.

Unlike Anya, who was going crazy, Kusuo was walking normally alongside Loid.

Kusuo was shocked, Loid actually held hands with Anya.
'I can't defend myself from an enemy attack with one hand occupied. But in order to look normal, I must.'

Hearing Loid's thoughts, Anya let go of Loid's hand, grabbed Kusuo, and dragged him to seek cover under a sign
Kusuo was so stunned when Anya randomly grabbed his hand that he didn't react to being pulled under the sign.
"...What are you doing?"
"Hiding from enemies!"
'Did I do something to put her on guard? Was it too soon to hold her hand? Does she hate me? This is bad. I need to stay on good terms with her until the mission is complete. Basic diplomacy dictates I need to know more about her, understanding the other party is the first step towards peace.' - Loid
Both Anya and Kusuo heard his thoughts. Kusuo didn't respond; he was used to ignoring others' thoughts. However, Anya understood less than 10% of it and decided to act on her understanding.
What was her understanding? That is, 'Understanding people means world peace!?'
Anya of course didn't even get the words correct however she still somewhat understood what he meant, and as she is obsessed with world peace she quickly decided to tell Loid about her.
"Um- I really like to eat peanuts, but carrots are gross. Oh! Bacon from the bakery!"
Kusuo had stopped being stunned at this point and noted down Anya's likes and dislikes. Of course, he had a slight smile on his face when he heard the last part.
"A bakery? Ha, I'm afraid they don't sell bacon."
Kusuo remembered the mocking smirk Anya had given him earlier and decided to give one back.
Seeing Kusuo's smirk, Anya grew even redder.

A bit later, they arrived at a market; Anya of course rushed to the spy wars stand to which Loid followed.
Kusuo saw this as a chance, so he went to the sweets shop and looked around. Sadly he didn't find any coffee pudding.
Luckily he still found something he liked. However, when he went to grab the money for it, he realized he was no longer on earth, and his yen didn't mean anything.
He was about to use superpowers but remembered his mom's words, causing him to stop.
Just as he was about to leave, Loid walked behind him and gave the shopkeeper the money to buy it.
Looking at Loid, who coaxed Anya to stop crying and bought him some sweets, Kusuo felt he wasn't so bad after all.
