"Why?" she asked. When their gazes met, Shawn was quick to turn his face. She could see him clenching his jaw.
"Shawn," she called.
"Alice, please leave," he said.
She placed her palm on his shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. "My love, look at me," she urged. He shook his head in denial. She hugged him from behind, planting soft kisses on his smooth back.
"Baby, you can't get me this wet and then plan to leave," she teased, hoping to make him look at her. Luckily, it worked, and he faced her. She used the opportunity to cup his chin. "My love, I want you to know that I'll never leave, okay? I made you this promise, and I'm going through with it," she assured. She brought his face closer and brushed her lips on his, then withdrew with a teasing smile.
"You don't look like yourself," she said with a frown. Her lip trembled as she saw his eyes.
"Alice, are... are you s-scared... scared of me?" he asked, his voice trembling.
She immediately protested. "Why should I be scared?" she said. Then she kissed his eyes, showing him she loved them the way they were. Her action melted his heart, and he found himself hugging her.
"I love you, Alice," he said.
"I love you too, Shawn," she said, then tilted her head and gave him a short but loving kiss.
"I want to tell you something, Alice," he said, his voice heavy with fear—fear that if he told her, he'd lose her. She hugged him more closely.
"Tell me, babe. But I hope you aren't apologizing to me," she said with a wide smile.
"No, babe. But I'd also like to use this opportunity to apologize," he said, bumping his forehead on hers. "Alice... I never wanted you to see this side of me. I never meant to scare you, and I don't want you to be worried about what you just saw. It's normal for me," he said, then withdrew to check her reaction. But to his surprise, she was calm. He sighed in relief. "Babe, I'm a... I'm a half-demon and half-vampire," he confessed, and his sentence made her eyes widen. He began to panic, thinking that his statement would make her change her love for him.
"Alice, after hearing my confession, do you still love me?" he asked, his voice shaking.
She reached for his cheeks and caressed them like never before. She drew her face closer to his without breaking eye contact, and then her lips landed on his, and she kissed him as if to assure him of her love. "I even love you more, my love," she said in the most sincere manner ever.
"For being honest with me, I'll reward you," she said with a mischievous grin. She trailed her hand down to his groin, and immediately, his hard erection stood, poking its tip on her belly button as she straddled him.
"You are learning fast, my darling," he said in a deep, husky voice.
