I thanked the group of miners again after I have given them little rewards since they did their best to answer all of my questions, no matter how many there were. They appreciated my small gesture so much that they gave me detailed directions as well on where to find things as well as the names of people that can help me out.
The last question I asked them is if it would be possible to buy some land from the open area to build a house or open a business. They looked at me in surprise and then looked at each other wordlessly. The eldest of the mining group smiled at me and responded, "All this land is free for everybody to use. It is the only area that nobody took ownership of since it doesn't have anything profitable in particular. I think those greedy bastards wouldn't mind even if someone buys it if it means they have less land area to take care of."
