Chapter 29: Omake 1
A few days earlier…
When the matches were over, she and Poochie went back to the betting windows to cash in their slips. They were each given a stack of a hundred gold coins.
"I'll bet you've never imagined holding so much gold in your hands, have you?"
"No, of course not," he mumbled. Despite literally getting a fortune handed to him he looked oddly depressed.
Alexia could guess the reason why.
She leaned in close, grinning. "Isn't there something you want to say to me, Poochie?"
He sighed, turned to her, and gave her a sloppy but genuine bow. "Thank you, Alexia."
"Well, you're very welcome my dear, Pooch. But those aren't the words I really want to hear from you."
"Please, don't make me," he groaned.
That only made her even more eager. "Oh, come on, I just want you to say it once. You already know the three words I want to hear from you, don't you?"
"It's embarrassing," he moaned.
"Really? Then I'll just let you whisper them in my ear."
She leaned in even closer and pushed aside some of her hair.
"Like this is less embarrassing," he muttered. Poochie's cheeks actually turned red, and he looked as if he were dying of shame.
"I'm waaaaaiiiting," she chirped in a sing song voice.
"Fine," he sighed in defeat and resignation. He placed his lips to her ear and whispered those three magical words she'd longed for.
"I'm your pooch."
Alexia squealed in delight.
