At first light the next morning, Adam and Misha exchanged a grin before they bolted to Xie Lian's room.
Like a ghost and a feline surrounding their unsuspecting prey, they slid the wooden door open without a sound. Tiptoeing toward her bed, they sneered at her hair strewn on the bed like a blanket. Sunlight sparked bright violet in her hair, rising and falling with her peaceful breath.
Unfortunately for the sleeping beauty, that peace wouldn't last when Adam and Misha's eyes glowed with mischief.
Fog spread out of their hand, obscuring the sunlight and twirling ominously. It took the shape of an ethereal man, his muscular arms crossed over his broad chest. An earring dangled down his left ear, a turban covered his hair, and two eyes blazed like torches.
Adam waved his hand, creating a backdrop noise of dripping water as he altered his voice and thundered.
"Wake up, little one, for I came to grant you a wish."
