Chapter one, chapter one...I thought there'd be a chapter one, but what I see instead is a frenzied jagged line that tells tale of where several pages of this book once were. It had been torn out, and recently.
Elias.
He had taken more than thirty pages of this book. That bastard.
I feel my stomach churn at the thought. Had I not trusted him so much, he never would have gotten his hands on this book. What did he even want with it anyhow?
Knowledge is power.@
"I'm sorry Mom." I whisper to myself as I fiddle with the remnants of the torn pages. As I dwell on the pages, Iris yawns beside me. She's fast asleep on the bed I asked for which was placed right next to mine.
I should be asleep now. It's 12:00 midnight. But I needed to read this book, I'd been stalling all day. I just wish I had something to eat right now.
Shaking this thought off, I focus on the book…or at least, what is left of the book.
