I slowly opened my eyes to look around where I was. I was facing an unknown ceiling. The ceiling was white with golden intricate designs.
The place looked ravishely clean for it to be in the slums.
I woke up and saw that I was lying in a fairly huge room. There were multiple beds arranged systematically just like mine.
'Is it an hospital?',
Then I was hit with the events that happened at the inn.
I started to sweat profusely.
"Anna, Anna, ANNA...." I tried calling Anna out loud.
"Calm down, I'm right here." A sweet voice answered.
I looked at Anna reading a book sitting near the window.
I felt relieved.
"Is...is Alice alright??",
"She is fine Roy, rest on for now" she said.
I laid down back and remembered how Aunty Esther died protecting me. How all others died just because I was weak.
I might look like a kid but I still had the conscience of an adult. I felt responsible.
I felt guilt, remourse, sadness but even a single drop of tear never dropped.
They died protecting me, but here I am unaffected.
I felt angry yes, but I didn't cry, rather I was calm. I was like stagnant water, unaffected.
I clenched my fist in anger.
"People died because of me, I couldn't do anything Anna. In the end it--",
"Roy, life's always not fair. In this dangerous world, people die all the time. They knew the circumstances, they weighed all the pros and cons and chose to save you.

Her words were definitely comforting and more importantly true but I was weak, it is an inevitable truth.

I also don't know how and why he got into this body.

"You're inside the healers residence, you were hurt quite badly by the time I arrived. I don't think your body was able to handle the sudden usage of your weird ability.", she said batting an eye.
I could guess what she was hinting at. Although I don't know what weird ability did I use due to me fainting, she must have seen me use it nevertheless.
Sigh,
"I too don't know Anna. I just felt someone suddenly take over my body and the next thing I know I'm here.
My conscious was not mine. I'm not able to explain it but, I wasn't me at that time."
Although what I told was the truth, it wasn't the entire truth.
I was content with what I told. If anyone would have been in my place, they would undoubtly do the same.(Maybe)
She just sighed.
She got up from her chair, closed the book and began walking towards the exit.
"Roy, whatever it is you are facing, we are always there to help you. Don't worry about anything for now. You're still a kid, enjoy every possible moment, make sure you behave in a way that you don't regret later" she said leaving me alone in the huge room.
She talked as if she knew I wasn't a mere child. She talked as if she knew the one inside this body isn't the old Roy but someone different.
'If she indeed knew, then why didn't she take any action?? Why didn't she just kill me? Why shower me with the same warmth and kindness as everyone else??'
Right now there were a lot of things I didn't understand.
Little did I know everything would slowly start to make sense, every tiny little things I did would bind me closer to the thread of fate.
Little did I know that the current me, was a being who was never meant to exist.
