Chapter 29 - Chapter 29 Future troubles(rewrite)

"What do you mean by Drakons system?" I asked, feeling a bit uneasy about the answer.

[Host, the system has gathered data indicating that this dimension of Fairy Tail had numerous factors that led to its downfall. These factors are not present in the canon that the host is familiar with. One of them is the Drakon War.]

"Does that mean there will be a war as big as the final one?"

[No, host. The system has developed methods to ensure that the war does not escalate. It will end in a single battle.]

"What do you mean?"

[Host, the Drakons are not originally from this world. They come from another universe. A specific ritual was once performed to summon them here.]

"Before? What do you mean by that? Have Drakons entered this world before?"

[Yes, they have. They are one of the factors responsible for the depletion of the world's ethernano levels. Their species consumes ethernano like a drug, and when they arrived here by accident last time, they absorbed vast amounts of it. This contributed significantly to the weakening of dragons and other magical species.]

"So, all the dragons got weakened... then what about Acnologia?"

[Host, most magical creatures have a direct connection to the world, making them dependent on its mana levels. Humans, on the other hand, are immune to this in exchange for a shorter lifespan and fewer inborn abilities compared to other species. Acnologia exploited this weakness. He initiated the Dragon King Festival, slaughtering dragons of almost every element and consuming their blood and flesh. This transformation turned him into the Arcane Dragon, the only Dragon Slayer capable of devouring all forms of magic.]

"Wow, that's a lot... You don't usually provide this much information. What made you reveal all of this now?"

[This was part of the reward package for completing the S-Class test. Additionally, this information is something the host would not have been able to acquire in time otherwise.]

"How much time do I have to stop it?"

[The host will have an opportunity before the canon events begin. If the host puts in enough effort, the war might be prevented entirely.]

"How do they return this time? And how can I stop them? Can you tell me that?"

[They left when the world's ethernano levels dropped too low. However, before leaving, they left behind some of their own to reopen the portal once ethernano levels recovered sufficiently.]

A sudden realization struck me.

"You don't mean—"

[Yes, host. On July 7, Year 777, the day the Eclipse Gate opens, and the Dragon Slayers arrive, will be the day of war—unless the host manages to stop the portal from opening.]

I sat on my bed, shocked by the revelation the system had just dropped on me.

Meanwhile, in a Room in the Girls' Dormitory...

"HE FINALLY SAID IT!!!"

While Karna was freaking out about an impending war, the girls were busy celebrating something entirely different—Cana had finally gotten Karna to say it.

"I almost thought it would never happen," Ur said with a smirk.

"I had faith the kid would pull it off," Cornelia added.

"Well, congratulations, Cana," Erza said, blushing slightly.

"Thank you, guys," Cana replied, looking a little embarrassed.

Ultear folded her arms. "Honestly, I think it took way longer than it should have."

Cornelia chuckled. "At least he did better than Gildarts."

Curious, Ur leaned in. "How did he do it?"

The girls, including Cana, leaned closer, eager to hear the story.

Cornelia's expression suddenly turned dead serious, making them think she had just recalled a tragic moment from her past.

"He destroyed the town where I had my old house... along with a lot of nearby forests and a few mountains."

Everyone stared at her in stunned silence, their expressions clearly asking why?

Cornelia started fidgeting. "...He wanted to write 'Will you marry me' in big letters."

The room went completely silent as everyone mentally calculated the cost of repairing such destruction.

Suddenly, Cana's celebration turned into a pity party for Cornelia's suffering.

Later That Night, Walking Home...

After the party, Cana and Cornelia walked home together. As they strolled under the night sky, Cornelia broke the silence.

"Cana, can I ask you something?"

"Yeah, Mom?"

"How much do you like Karna?"

Cana turned red instantly. "W-W-Why are you asking me that!?" she stammered.

Cornelia remained serious. "What I mean is... how far are you planning to take this relationship? Is it just for now, or do you intend to be with him in the long run?"

Cana looked at her mother and saw that she was genuinely serious. Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she looked her straight in the eyes.

"I'm not fooling around, Mom. I'm serious about him."

Cornelia studied her daughter for a moment before speaking again.

"You do realize he hides a lot of things, right? He thinks he's fooling everyone, but we can all see it. He carries a lot of burdens on his shoulders. Can you say for sure that you'll stay by his side, even if he never tells you his secrets?"

Cana knew her mother was asking the right questions. She had spent years with Karna, and she knew he was keeping a lot of things from everyone. The odds of those secrets being dangerous were high, and the chances of him never telling her were even higher.

But then she thought about all the moments they had shared. She imagined a future without him.

A small smile formed on her lips.

She met her mother's gaze once more.

"It doesn't matter if he never tells me his problems," Cana said firmly. "I'll just make sure I'm strong enough to handle them and support him when the time comes."

Cornelia watched her daughter's unwavering expression. Then, she smiled.

"I just wanted to know if you were serious or not," she said softly. "Don't worry, kid. When the time comes, all of us will be there to support him."

Cana grinned. "Because that's how Fairy Tail is, right?"

Cornelia nodded. "Yes, it is."

They both laughed as they continued walking home.

But just as they reached their doorstep, Cornelia grinned mischievously.

"So..." she said, her voice dripping with amusement. "Who's going to tell your father?"

Cana froze in place.

Cornelia chuckled. This is going to be fun.
