He took a slow step forward, his golden eyes glowing in the dim light as he addressed Grace. "You are the one who will awaken what was lost."
Grace took a shaky step back. "Awaken what?"
Aedric tilted his head. Then let out a soft, almost gentle smile.
"The kingdom's buried past."
As soon as he said that, the ground beneath them rumbled.
And then, from somewhere deep within the palace, a heavy sound echoed through the halls.
This was closely followed by a metallic groan reverberating through the walls like the sound of massive doors unlocking, and their rusted hinges protesting in the process.
Grace's held onto Jace's hand in a firm grip. She wasn't sure which was more unsettling: the sudden movement of the palace itself or the way the man that had Aedric's appearance stood so calmly in the center of the chaos, watching her with an eerie patience.
