"Do you hear anything?" Celestia asked as her ears were plastered against the grand door of the Empress's chamber.
"Nah..." Aqualina shook her head, her own ear glued to the wall beside the door, straining to catch even the faintest whisper. Not even a sigh leaked out from within.
The silence was thick, yet suspicious.
Of course, that was how the room was built.
How an Empress's room was supposed to be!
What were they even expecting to hear?
Aqualina sighed, "It's been almost half a day..." she muttered in a worried tone. She had already searched every hallway, garden, and private spot around the palace, but Aether and her mother were nowhere to be found... except possibly here.
Celestia hummed softly, "Should we enter it?" she asked, her voice low and tinged with a teasing curiosity.
Aqualina bit her lip hard. Of course she wanted to—her heart ached with worry—but if they were in the middle of... that... and she just barged in?
That would be beyond awkward.
