Over about an hour or so, we learned the layout of the maze and the nature of the test. The cavern maze was a single layer, without any passages or stairs leading up or down. The maze was roughly circular, with the entrance to the chaotic shaft located in its center. However, it was also sealed by a door that would only open if five puzzles in various dead-end locations were completed. The spiritually encoded information in the door also gave us a slightly rough idea of where the unlocking puzzles were located.
We headed for the first one, the cavern maze still quiet as the grave, no magical beasts, no participants, no nothing. I opened the door into the dead end containing the first one and started working on it, a Destiny's Path puzzle.
